Athletic director and teacher Mike Thies emphasized the power of \u2062faith \u200dduring this difficult time, stating, &#8220;there are no words, but thankfully God has \u2062words for us.&#8221; He drew comfort \u200bfrom biblical passages, specifically Isaiah 40 and Psalm 46, wich remind believers of GodS sovereignty and\u2062 strength amidst chaos. Thies highlighted that although the community is\u200d grappling with deep sorrow and confusion,scripture\u200b reassures them that God is \u200ba refuge and strength in times of trouble. Six others were wounded.<\/p>\n<p>One moment stuck out during the service when athletic director, teacher and coach Mike Thies told the audience that in grappling with Monday, &ldquo;there are no words, but thankfully God has words for us.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/cc6eoZ_I4Gk?si=BLmgdEMROqWTGaen&amp;start=4268\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Thies quoted Isaiah 40 and Psalm 46 here.<\/p>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\"> \t\t\tif ( getCookie( \"ff_subbed\" ) ) { \t\t\t\tdocument.getElementById(\"stnvideo\").remove() \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>Several passages resonate in such a trying time, as not just Abundant Life and City Church, but many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/situation-dire-urgent-help-requested-christians-syria-nation-descends-chaos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christians<\/a> across the nation look for an explanation as to why Monday&rsquo;s events unfolded.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Isaiah%2040&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Isaiah 40:<\/a> 21-23 says, &ldquo;Do you not know? Do you not hear? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain and&nbsp;spreads them like a tent to dwell in; who brings princes to nothing, and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The passage reminds us who is really in control.<\/p>\n<p>Although we are brought down by tragic worldly events, a higher power looks down on us and those forces we grapple with seem small in comparison to him.<\/p>\n<p>Thies continued reading through Isaiah 40, including verse 28, which reads, &ldquo;Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/change-trump-made-2024-speech-bring-gods-blessing-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">God<\/a>, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>This is also a particularly powerful passage in these circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>We can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/heres-how-the-media-are-lying-right-now-nyt-blames-bidens-low-support-on-voters-with-collective-amnesia\/\" title=\"Media lies: NYT blames Biden&#039;s low support on voters&#039; &#039;collective amnesia\">surely forget<\/a> when gripped with so much fear that there are forces mightier than us that still stand strong when we feel hopeless and saddened.<\/p>\n<p>As he read through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm%2046&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Psalm 46<\/a>, he recited verses 1-3, which say, &ldquo;God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
