U.S. District\u200d Judge Paul Magnuson approved this \u200drequest, citing the significance\u2062 of \u200dthe evidence in relation to Chauvin&#8217;s case. Magnuson wrote in his order, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startribune.com\/derek-chauvin-allowed-to-examine-george-floyds-heart-tissue-in-challenge-to-federal-conviction\/601195442\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Minnesota Star Tribune<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Attorneys can therefore take discovery of histology slides, tissue samples, tissue blocks, and sections of autopsy tissue slides with respect to his heart.<\/p>\n<p>They are also permitted to make copies of pictures taken of Floyd&rsquo;s heart.<\/p>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\"> \t\t\tif ( getCookie( \"ff_subbed\" ) ) { \t\t\t\tdocument.getElementById(\"stnvideo\").remove() \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>Chauvin is attempting to overturn his conviction by contending that Eric Nelson, his original defense attorney, failed to obtain evidence related to heart tissue samples from Floyd.<\/p>\n<p>The former police officer asserts that Dr. William Schaetzel, a forensic pathologist based in Topeka, Kan., informed Nelson of potential evidence that Floyd had a condition known as takotsubo cardiomyopathy, but that Nelson neglected to pursue that evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, also known as broken-heart syndrome, can occur &ldquo;when a person experiences severe emotional or physical stress,&rdquo;
