Meanwhile, Trump blasted the poll as &ldquo;highly skewed&rdquo; and called Selzer one of his &ldquo;enemies&rdquo; trying to swing the election.<\/p>\n<p>Selzer told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> she had &ldquo;no comment today&rdquo; on the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>During an interview after the election, Selzer said she took Trump&rsquo;s allegations of election interference &ldquo;very seriously.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The idea that I intentionally set up to deliver this response when I&rsquo;ve never done that before,&rdquo; Selzer said. &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve had plenty of opportunities to do it. It&rsquo;s not my ethic.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Pollster J Ann Selzer defends herself against accusations that she criminally manipulated her Iowa poll to benefit the Kamala Harris campaign:<br \/>J Ann Selzer: &#8220;In such a public poll:<br \/>And the allegations I take very seriously,  they&#8217;re saying that this was election interference,&hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/423WYGb52f\">pic.twitter.com\/423WYGb52f<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Eric Abbenante (@EricAbbenante) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EricAbbenante\/status\/1868144823909110057?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 15, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script data-cfasync=\"false\" src=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/cdn-cgi\/scripts\/5c5dd728\/cloudflare-static\/email-decode.min.js\"><\/script><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The lawsuit marks another instance of Trump transforming his words of disdain for traditional media into action by waging expensive legal fights against outlets, forcing them to put up lawyer costs and court fees to fight them.<\/p>\n<p>It comes on the heels of Trump securing a $15 million settlement with ABC News over misstatements by the network&rsquo;s longtime news anchor George Stephanopoulos.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stephanopoulos said on the air roughly a dozen times during a broadcast in March that Trump was found &ldquo;liable for rape,&rdquo; when in fact, a jury had found Trump liable for &ldquo;sexual abusing&rdquo; writer E. Jean Carroll. Trump charged that the comments were defamatory, but the case never made it to trial. Defamation is difficult to prove, but, according to CNN, ABC News wanted to avoid producing discovery in the case, which would make public behind-the-scenes material that factored into the outlet&rsquo;s reporting.<\/p>\n<p>The Selzer and <em>Des Moines Register<\/em> lawsuit, however, more aptly mimics a separate media lawsuit Trump brought in October against CBS News.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s attorneys alleged the outlet in that case violated a Texas consumer protection law by posting shorter clips of a response Harris gave to an interview question.
