Jean Carroll, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/docket\/68351681\/58\/1\/trump-v-american-broadcasting-companies-inc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">terms of the settlement.<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2033204251\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The agreement, signed Friday and <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/abc-trump-lawsuit-defamation-stephanopoulos-04aea8663310af39ae2a85f4c1a56d68\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">made public Saturday<\/a>, characterizes the payment as a &ldquo;charitable contribution.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>ABC News weasels simply added an editor&rsquo;s note at the bottom of a March 10, 2024 story headlined, &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/nancy-mace-defends-support-trump-after-found-liable\/story?id=107964612\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nancy Mace defends her support for Trump after he was found liable for sexual assault<\/a>.&rdquo;&nbsp;They had no choice. The settlement demanded it.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Editor&rsquo;s Note: ABC News and George Stephanopoulos regret statements regarding President Donald J. Trump made during an interview by George Stephanopoulos with Rep. Nancy Mace on ABC&rsquo;s This Week on March 10, 2024,&rdquo; the suspect apology states.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The story and Stephanopoulos badgered the South Carolina Republican congresswoman for her support of Trump, who in a <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-rape-carroll-trial-fe68259a4b98bb3947d42af9ec83d7db\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">May 2023<\/a> civil case was found liable for sexually abusing Carroll decades ago.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The jury in a trial that reeked of politics in another New York kangaroo court rejected Carroll&rsquo;s claim that she was raped in a posh Manhattan department store. Stephanopoulos <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/19\/trump-sues-abcs-george-stephanopoulos-for-repeatedly-smearing-him-as-a-rapist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repeatedly<\/a> and falsely said Trump had been &ldquo;found liable for rape&rdquo; during a March interview with Mace on ABC&rsquo;s &ldquo;This Week.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who was at the time the leading candidate for the GOP&rsquo;s presidential nomination and hounded by political prosecutions aimed at knocking the Democrats&rsquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mtg-has-a-plan-to-fight-donald-trumps-indictment-defund-special-counsel\/\" title=\"MTG&#039;s plan to combat Trump&#039;s indictment: defund Special Counsel.\">top political enemy<\/a> out of the race, quickly filed a defamation lawsuit accusing the ABC News anchor and former Clinton crony with &ldquo;actual malice or with a reckless disregard for the truth.&rdquo; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trump has denied Carroll&rsquo;s allegations. Carroll apparently couldn&rsquo;t remember precisely when the alleged sexual abuse took place, but she&rsquo;s confident it occurred nearly 30 years ago.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, as my Federalist colleague Tristan Justice wrote earlier this year, former Clinton White House Communications Director Stephanopoulos served as President Bill Clinton&rsquo;s &ldquo;point man orchestrating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2024\/03\/12\/megyn_kelly_stephanopoulos_smeared_bill_clintons_assault_accusers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">smear campaigns<\/a> against Clinton&rsquo;s accusers of sexual misconduct throughout the &rsquo;90s.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;During his tenure, Stephanopoulos led Clinton&rsquo;s operation to discredit allegations of sexual harassment from Paula Jones, a former employee of Clinton&rsquo;s from his time as governor who sued the president in 1994,&rdquo; Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/13\/george-stephanopoulos-is-a-clinton-rape-apologist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In January, a jury in a defamation case ordered Trump to pay Carroll $83 million. The president-elect has <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/abc-trump-lawsuit-defamation-stephanopoulos-04aea8663310af39ae2a85f4c1a56d68\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">appealed<\/a> the civil judgments against him.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the ABC defamation lawsuit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/docket\/68351681\/58\/1\/trump-v-american-broadcasting-companies-inc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">settlement<\/a>, the network must transfer the $15 million to an escrow account overseen by Alejandro Brito, Trump&rsquo;s attorney. ABC also must pay Brito&rsquo;s law firm $1 million. The money must arrive within 10 days, right before Christmas, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courtlistener.com\/docket\/68351681\/58\/1\/trump-v-american-broadcasting-companies-inc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to the agreement<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are pleased that the parties have reached an agreement to dismiss the lawsuit on the terms in the court filing,&rdquo; ABC News spokeswoman Jeannie Kedas said in a statement to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gov-cuomo-threatens-n-y-lawmaker-over-nursing-home-criticism\/\" title=\"Gov.
