The accused, who posed as American IT workers, are alleged to have stolen around \u2064$88 million over six years while working for DPRK-controlled \u200ccompanies in China and Russia. Their activities included\u2063 obtaining remote employment\u2062 under false identities, extortion, and\u200d stealing sensitive facts to demand payments from employers. The North Korean government is \u200daccused \u2063of orchestrating these \u200dschemes \u2062to\u200d support \u200bits regime. The group was indicted\u2064 in Missouri and faced multiple charges related to fraud and identity theft, with potential prison sentences of up to 27 years. Apex World News (@apexworldnews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/apexworldnews\/status\/1867602611429683337?\">December 13, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The IT workers would steal American identities in order to obtain remote employment from U.S. companies.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the workers had orders to earn at least $10,000 per month.<\/p>\n<p>To pad their incomes more, they would also resort to extortion.<\/p>\n<p>The IT workers would steal sensitive company information and threaten to leak it unless the employer agreed to make an extortion payment.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;To prop up its brutal regime, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/illegal-immigrant-charged-secretly-shipping-weapons-us-north-korea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North Korean government<\/a> directs IT workers to gain employment through fraud, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gao-report-chinas-growing-power-poses-a-significant-challenge-to-the-u-s\/\" title=\"GAO Report: China&#039;s Growing Power Poses a &#039;Significant&#039; Challenge to the U.S.\">steal sensitive information<\/a> from U.S. companies, and siphon money back to the DPRK,&rdquo; said Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This indictment of 14 North Korean nationals exposes their alleged sanctions evasion and should serve as a warning to companies around the globe &mdash;
