(Russian Defense Ministry Press Service photo via AP)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Plekhovo fell to Russian advances several days ago and Ukrainian leaders did not convey any North Korean role in the attack.<\/p>\n<p>Footage has been distributed via Telegram by Kremlin advocates purporting to show North Korean soldiers mobilizing on foot and in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-infrastructure-plan-would-spend-billions-to-make-pentagon-green\/\" title=\"Biden Infrastructure Plan Would Spend Billions To Make Pentagon \u2018Green\u2019\">military vehicles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our North Korean comrades have undergone a baptism of fire effectively,&rdquo;&nbsp;wrote Russian military blogger Colonel Cassad, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/world-news\/2024\/12\/13\/north-korea-troops-performing-well-battlefield-blogger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">according to translations<\/a> from the <em>Telegraph<\/em>. &ldquo;Comrade Kim Jong-un can be proud.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The context and accuracy of the Russian-sourced video cannot be verified.<\/p>\n<p>President Volodymyr Zelensky reported &ldquo;first battles&rdquo; with North Korean soldiers last month, but only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/eu-committee-finds-astrazeneca-vaccine-safe-after-shots-paused-in-several-countries\/\" title=\"EU Committee Finds AstraZeneca Vaccine Safe After Shots Paused In Several Countries\">scattered reports<\/a> of cooperation with Russian platoons in combat have been released since.<\/p>\n<p>As recently as last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/kyivindependent.com\/russia-deploys-north-korean-soldiers-at-checkpoints-near-kursk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Ukrainian intelligence reports indicated<\/a> that the vast majority of Korean People&rsquo;s Army personnel were being used as guards and patrolmen in areas where Russia maintained firm control. Their occupation of these posts allegedly freed up Russian soldiers to be deployed to the front lines.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The nature of North Korea&rsquo;s true role in the invasion of Ukraine remains difficult to parse due to the unreliability of Russian media, as well as a lack of consistency in U.S. and Ukrainian intelligence on the issue.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, it has been suggested that North Korean soldiers are being disguised as Russian nationals from ethnic groups with similar Asiatic facial features.
