Terrill)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lombardo has already declared his intention to run for a second term next election cycle &ldquo;because it&rsquo;s a huge challenge, and I thrive off the challenge.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;And there&rsquo;s a lot of broken pieces that need to get fixed,&rdquo; he <a href=\"https:\/\/thenevadaindependent.com\/article\/you-have-to-grow-into-it-joe-lombardos-rise-from-beat-cop-to-governor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">told<\/a> the <em>Nevada Independent<\/em> in April.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ford will face a likely grueling battle in a bid to defeat Lombardo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The incumbent Republican has built a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/davidcharns\/status\/1617752432963993600\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">getting s**t done<\/a>&rdquo; brand that has propelled his rise to become one of the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/poll-republicans-like-their-governors-democrats-dont\/\" title=\"Poll: Republicans Like Their Governors. His hardball approach seems to have garnered favor with voters, who handed him a 58% approval rating, per January <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/24524075-governorapproval-january-2024-final?responsive=1&amp;title=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">polling<\/a> from Morning Consult.<\/p>\n<p>Often the lone GOP voice in a state where Democrats hold majorities in both legislative chambers, Lombardo helped lead Republicans to key victories in Nevada this election cycle. After Nov. 5, Democrats lost their supermajority in the assembly and failed to gain a supermajority in the state senate.
