prosecutors wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s attorneys <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3248932\/trump-cites-hunter-pardon-grounds-dismiss-new-york-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">argued<\/a> earlier this month that as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mike-kelly-same-people-criticizing-trump-peddled-russia-collusion-hoax\/\" title=\"Mike Kelly: Same People Criticizing Trump Peddled Russia Collusion Hoax\">president-elect<\/a>, Trump was exempt from participating in any court proceedings because he had presidential immunity and other constitutional protections.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Wrongly continuing proceedings in this failed lawfare case disrupts President Trump&rsquo;s transition efforts,&rdquo; Trump&rsquo;s attorneys had said.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Juan Merchan postponed Trump&rsquo;s sentencing indefinitely last month to give Trump and Bragg time to make arguments for and against dropping the case entirely.<\/p>\n<p>Manhattan prosecutors said that at most, Trump&rsquo;s sentencing hearing and any appellate proceedings could be postponed until after Trump leaves office in four years.<\/p>\n<p>Dismissal would &ldquo;subvert the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-sues-january-6-committee-to-block-request-for-white-house-communications-records\/\" title=\"Trump Sues January 6 Committee To Block Request For White House Communications, Records\">compelling public interest<\/a> in preserving the jury&rsquo;s unanimous verdict and upholding the rule of law,&rdquo; prosecutors wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s attorneys had also argued that, in light of President Joe Biden pardoning his son Hunter and justifying it by saying the Biden Department of Justice treated the first son unfairly, the Manhattan court should extend Trump similar treatment. Trump&rsquo;s attorneys reasoned that the same DOJ, which Biden argued was politicized, &ldquo;sent&rdquo; former DOJ official Matthew Colangelo to work in Bragg&rsquo;s office and prosecute Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Trump&rsquo;s attorneys claims, no evidence exists that the DOJ coordinated with Bragg to bring charges against Trump.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trump was convicted in May on 34 counts of falsifying records related to a payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election.
