He faces allegations of fraud, breach\u200b of \u2063trust, and accepting bribes across three separate cases, which have been delayed \u2064due to ongoing conflicts in the country. He&rsquo;s accused of fraud, breach of trust, and accepting bribes in separate matters.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I have been waiting eight years for this day to present the truth,&rdquo; he said on Monday, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/israel-benjamin-netanyahu-corruption-trial-gaza-war-a84a5a2743d111bb13982be3a4a1ea7b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">according<\/a> to the <em>Associated Press<\/em>, claiming to be the victim of a &ldquo;political hunt&rdquo; that he claimed had &ldquo;ruined the lives of dozens of people&rdquo; caught up in the trial.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu will take questions from his own defense attorneys first and will then be questioned by prosecutors. The trial began in 2020 but the court&rsquo;s proceedings have been delayed several times.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He is accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/navy-commander-admits-to-being-bribed-by-fat-leonard-giving-classified-info-to-foreign-defense-contractor\/\" title=\"Navy Commander Admits To Being Bribed By \u2018Fat Leonard,\u2019 Giving Classified Info To Foreign Defense Contractor\">accepting lavish gifts<\/a> from Arnon Milchan, an Israeli Hollywood film producer, and Australian billionaire James Packer in exchange for helping Milchan secure a visa to the United States and for advancing a tax exemption law that could have benefited Israelis living abroad. He&rsquo;s facing fraud and breach of trust charges regarding this case, which is known as Case 1000.<\/p>\n<p>Milchan testified in June 2023 that he bought Netanyahu expensive gifts, including cigars and champagne, and inquired about the status of his visa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/politics-and-diplomacy\/article-747710\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">according <\/a>to the <em>Jerusalem Post<\/em>. He acknowledged that he appealed to the &ldquo;whole world&rdquo; for help obtaining the visa. He also reached out to Netanyahu and advocated a tax-exemption extension that would&rsquo;ve applied to him.<\/p>\n<p>He faces the same charges in Case 2000, in which he allegedly made a deal with Arnon Mozes, the controlling shareholder of the Israeli news outlet <em>Yedioth Ahronoth<\/em>, to receive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/debra-j-saunders-dont-sue-the-messenger\/\" title=\"Debra J. Saunders: Don&#039;t Sue the Messenger\">favorable news coverage<\/a> in exchange for his support of legislation to slow the growth of a rival paper.<\/p>\n<p>In May of last year, Ari Harow, a former aide to Netanyahu, testified that the prime minister sought an agreement with Mozes for more favorable coverage due to his concern that he could lose the 2015 general election. Harow testified that Netanyahu had asked him to set up the meetings at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-to-host-netanyahu-at-mar-a-lago-when-israeli-leader-comes-to-us-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Trump to host Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago when Israeli leader comes to US - Washington Examiner\">prime minister&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s residence and directed him to secretly record the meetings,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/former-aide-says-netanyahu-sought-deal-with-yedioth-publisher-to-secure-election-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> according <\/a>to the <em>Times of Israel<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The Knesset, Israel&rsquo;s governing body, did not ultimately pass the legislation that would&rsquo;ve constricted <em>Israel Hayom<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the third case, Case 4000, Netanyahu has been charged with fraud, breach of trust, and bribery. The prime minister, who was communications minister at the time, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">allegedly gave regulatory benefits<\/a> to Shaul Elovitch, the owner of Bezeq, who also controlled the news website <em>Walla<\/em>&nbsp;in exchange for favorable news coverage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The resumption of the case comes as the Israeli military continues to battle against Hamas while a ceasefire is still held between Israel and Hezbollah.
