Harris is still asking for cash&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h1>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"tdb-title-line\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<div id=\"Brid_1895009\" class=\"tpd-featured-video bridtv\"><\/div>\n<p>Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kamala-harris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Kamala Harris&rsquo;\">Kamala Harris<\/a>&lsquo;s presidential campaign is still sending multiple emails per day pleading with supporters for funds, more than three weeks&nbsp;after Election Day.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>The emails, the most recent being from Tuesday night, use a variety of tactics to rake in donations, ranging from shaming supporters for allegedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Screenshot-2024-11-27-103845.webp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">emboldening<\/a> President-elect Donald Trump to claiming that the funds will be used to fund recounts, even though control of the White House and Congress has already been called by organizations like the Associated Press. Harris&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Screenshot-2024-11-27-110615.webp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">deluge<\/a> of fundraising emails comes amid news that her campaign managed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/11\/17\/us\/politics\/harris-campaign-finances.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">spend<\/a> $1.5 billion over just 15 weeks and that it ended the election cycle with at least <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ccadelago\/status\/1854342667251187795\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">$20 million<\/a> in debt.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3222249\/how-kamala-harris-plowed-through-1-billion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"HOW KAMALA HARRIS PLOWED THROUGH $1 BILLION\"><strong>HOW KAMALA HARRIS PLOWED THROUGH $1 BILLION<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Can we count on you to contribute $50, or whatever feels right to you, to support the Harris Fight Fund program to make sure we count every vote in these final races and hold Trump accountable?&rdquo; one recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Screenshot-2024-11-27-103006.webp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">fundraising appeal<\/a> reads. &rdquo;Over the past few weeks, we have been in the states helping finish out recounts and making sure that every vote is counted.But the reality is, we need to see another surge of donations to allow us to continue building the foundation of resources needed to hold Trump accountable these next four years,&rdquo; another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Screenshot-2024-11-27-103553.webp\">states<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Though the Harris campaign incentivizes donations with promised recounts, only a slim margin of the overall contributions are going to something called &ldquo;Harris for President&rsquo;s Recount Account.&rdquo; Even though the account bears that name, there is nothing legally compelling the campaign to use those funds on recount efforts as opposed to paying off debt, for instance. The lion&rsquo;s share of funds contributed to the &ldquo;Harris Fight Fund&rdquo; will actually flow to the DNC and the Democratic Party&rsquo;s state-level affiliates, <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.actblue.com\/donate\/em-hvf-november-fight-fund-2024?akid=290.33132962.DcKaAh&amp;amount=50&amp;amounts=50%252C75%252C100%252C250%252C500&amp;c0=em-hvf-november-fight-fund-2024.7ItCv6&amp;countdown=-21&amp;rd=1&amp;refcode=kh_em_fr_20241126_b1_khc_tier1_kfm_ped_fl_ak-fnd-&amp;refcode2=290_33132962_DcKaAh&amp;t=2&amp;utm_campaign=kh_em_fr_20241126_b1_khc_tier1_kfm_ped_fl_ak-fnd-&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=ak\">according<\/a> to the fine print of the donation webpage.<\/p>\n<p>The DNC could <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/help-candidates-and-committees\/making-disbursements-political-party\/contributions-made-party-committees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">launch<\/a> a recount effort in support of Democratic federal candidates but they are by no means required to spend funds raised by the Harris Fight Fund to do so, according to the Federal Election Commission. If Harris ends up with surplus funds in her campaign account, she could use it to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/meet-the-press\/meetthepressblog\/s-happens-candidates-leftover-money-rcna57340\">finance<\/a> a 2028 presidential campaign.
