The Associated Press announced the \u200bresult three weeks after Election Day, \u200bfollowing a recount requested by Bohannan. Despite the race being officially called later, Miller-Meeks had\u200b previously declared \u200bvictory on election night. With \u2062Miller-Meeks&#8217;\u2063 victory, \u200bRepublicans are poised to hold\u2063 a 220-215 majority in the House, albeit a slim margin compared to their previous\u200d term. The <em>Associated Press <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AP_Politics\/status\/1861878678558327033\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">called the race<\/a> on Wednesday afternoon, three weeks after Election Day.<\/p>\n<p>Miller-Meeks had already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/uh-oh-joe-biden-coughs-his-way-through-press-conference-video\/\" title=\"UH OH: Joe Biden Coughs His Way Through Press Conference (VIDEO)\">declared victory<\/a> on election night despite the race not being officially called until all ballots were tabulated and the district underwent a recount due to a request by Bohannan. <\/p>\n<p>The race was one of three that was left outstanding in the weeks after Election Day, in addition to two races in California. Two of those were called on Wednesday, including Miller-Meeks&rsquo;s district and California&rsquo;s 45th Congressional District where Democratic candidate Derek Tran <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3244643\/michelle-steel-concedes-defeat-california-house-race-derek-tran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"defeated\">defeated<\/a> GOP incumbent Rep. Michelle Steel (R-CA).<\/p>\n<p>Only one race remains to be called: California&rsquo;s 13th Congressional District held by Rep. John Duarte (R-CA), who is currently trailing Democratic challenger Adam Gray. <\/p>\n<p>If those numbers hold, Republicans will have a 220-215 majority &mdash; an even smaller majority than the one they have struggled with over the last two years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That majority will face even more complications at the start of next year when Republicans are expected to start the year with at least three vacancies in the seats held by former Rep. Matt Gaetz as well as Reps. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Mike Waltz (R-FL).<\/p>\n<p>Those vacancies would leave the House makeup at 217-215, giving Republicans only a one<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-flexes-his-muscle-in-congress-in-preview-of-second-term-power-struggles-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Trump flexes his muscle in Congress in preview of second-term power struggles - Washington Examiner\">-seat majority &#038;mdash<\/a>;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3242637\/trump-cabinet-recruits-house-complicate-100-day-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">raising concerns<\/a>&nbsp;among members about how much of President-elect Donald Trump&rsquo;s agenda they will be able to accomplish in the first 100 days.
