These \u2062changes follow discussions between Walmart executives and conservative activist Robby Starbuck, who\u200c had \u2063been vocal about the company&#8217;s past DEI training programs that he characterized as racially biased. <\/p>\n<p>Key\u2062 changes announced include the disbandment \u200cof Walmart&#8217;s Center for Racial Equity, the termination of\u200c racial equity training from the Racial Equity Institute, and\u2063 a review of supplier\u200d diversity \u2064programs to ensure they do not show bias based on diversity metrics. Walmart will also discontinue the use \u2064of terms like &#8220;LatinX&#8221; and &#8220;DEI,&#8221; stating that its focus will be on fostering a sense \u2063of belonging for\u200d all.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of LGBTQ-related policies, \u2063Walmart has committed to monitoring its marketplace for inappropriate products aimed at children and will reconsider funding for events that may feature sexualized content targeting minors. \u2062Additionally, it will no longer participate in the Corporate Equality\u2062 Index\u2062 by \u200bthe Human \u2064Rights Campaign.<\/p>\n<p>This decision\u200c has\u200c been praised by figures such as Elon Musk and Christopher Rufo,\u2063 who see it as\u2063 a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fla-doctors-report-new-effective-treatment-for-covid-19\/\" title=\"Fla. doctors report new effective treatment for COVID-19\">potential turning point<\/a> in corporate America&#8217;s approach to \u200cDEI policies. Instead we had productive conversations to find solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Below are the&hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/BD02xJQ0X2\">pic.twitter.com\/BD02xJQ0X2<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&mdash; Robby Starbuck (@robbystarbuck) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/robbystarbuck\/status\/1861183474667004141?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 25, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>To reduce racial discrimination in the form of DEI, Walmart pledged to disband its Center for Racial Equity, established in 2020, stop &ldquo;racial equity&rdquo; training from the leftist <a href=\"https:\/\/racialequityinstitute.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Racial Equity Institute<\/a>, and &ldquo;evaluate supplier diversity programs&rdquo; to ensure they do not give &ldquo;preferential treatment and benefits to suppliers based on diversity.&rdquo; The company will also stop using the terms &ldquo;LatinX&rdquo; and &ldquo;DEI,&rdquo; saying its focus is on &ldquo;[b]elonging for ALL associates and customers.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to LGBT ideology and sexually explicit materials, the company agreed to &ldquo;monitor the Walmart marketplace to identify and remove inappropriate sexual and\/or transgender products marketed to children.&rdquo; Walmart will also review its funding of &ldquo;Pride, and other events, to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">avoid funding inappropriate sexualized content targeting kids<\/a>,&rdquo; and cease its surveys for the so-called &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrc.org\/resources\/corporate-equality-index\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Corporate Equality Index<\/a>&rdquo; of the LGBT special interest group Human Rights Campaign.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Walmart is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usfunds.com\/resource\/top-10-largest-fortune-500-employers-in-the-u-s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-house-votes-to-strip-delta-of-35-million-tax-credit-for-flipping-on-election-law-support\/\" title=\"Georgia House Votes To Strip Delta Of  Million Tax Credit For Flipping On Election Law Support\">largest private employer<\/a><\/a> in America, with a net worth of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrotrends.net\/stocks\/charts\/WMT\/walmart\/net-worth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$726.98 billion<\/a>. Figures like billionaire <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1861192587941683658\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elon Musk<\/a> and conservative activist <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/realchrisrufo\/status\/1861211005029884242\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Christopher Rufo<\/a> celebrated the move.<\/p>\n<p>The company issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/video\/6365220086112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a> to Fox Business on Monday, saying it made the adjustments to ensure &ldquo;belonging.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;ve been on a journey and we know we aren&rsquo;t perfect, but every decision comes from a place of wanting to foster a sense of belonging, to open doors to opportunities for all our associates, customers and suppliers and to be a Walmart for everyone,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/video\/6365220086112\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reads<\/a> the statement.<\/p>\n<p>Starbuck <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/robbystarbuck\/status\/1861183474667004141\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> on X that he hopes this decision will have a ripple effect.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This won&rsquo;t just have a massive effect for their employees who will have a neutral workplace without feeling that divisive issues are being injected but it will also extend to their many suppliers,&rdquo; he wrote. &ldquo;Companies can clearly see that America wants normalcy back. The era of wokeness is dying right in front of our eyes.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Rufo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/article\/walmart-vs-whiteness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">exposed<\/a> Walmart&rsquo;s trainings with the Racial Equity Institute in 2021, saying that these trainings told employees &ldquo;they are guilty of &lsquo;internalized racial superiority.&rsquo;&rdquo; The company began working with the REI in 2018, and the trainings called America a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/__trashed-177\/\" title=\"Now Walmart goes woke? Mega-store forces CRT training on executives, recommends it for hourly employees\">white supremacy system<\/a>.&rdquo; REI prescribed a solution of &ldquo;white anti-racist development&rdquo; to coach whites into admitting their &ldquo;privilege.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Jeremy Tedesco, senior counsel at religious freedom firm Alliance Defending Freedom, called Walmart&rsquo;s recent adjustments a &ldquo;game-changer.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;DEI is pushing censorship and hostility in both the workforce and society at large,&rdquo; Tedesco <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Jeremy_Tedesco\/status\/1861468576303194153\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posted<\/a> on X on Tuesday. &ldquo;Some of the largest companies in our country have dismantled their DEI program for good reason. It&rsquo;s time all companies look at what these woke programs are actually doing to their companies. DEI&rsquo;s destination is the trash heap of history.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Tedesco co-signed a letter today, with The Heritage Foundation&rsquo;s Chief Advancement Officer Andrew Olivastro, Inspire Investing CEO Robert Netzly, Bowyer Research President Jerry Bowyer, and State Financial Officers Foundation CEO O.J. Oleka. The letter, which ADF first shared with The Federalist, encourages other companies to follow Walmart&rsquo;s lead.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The cultural landscape is changing, and that means corporate leaders need to reassess the legal and reputational risks of embracing DEI. Doubling down on DEI is doubling down on failure,&rdquo; the letter reads. &ldquo;DEI is counterfeit unity based only on power and differences that are skin deep.
