Despite the increase, gas prices are much less expensive than earlier this year. <\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>Gas prices have been gradually decreasing since the summer. Monday&rsquo;s price is the lowest national average price for gas since May 2021, when the average cost for regular gas was $2.985 per gallon, according to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/dnav\/pet\/hist\/leafhandler.ashx?n=pet&amp;s=emm_epmr_pte_nus_dpg&amp;f=m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Energy Information Administration<\/a>. Since then, high gas prices have been a financial burden to drivers at over $3 per gallon and, for a brief period, over $4 per gallon.<\/p>\n<p>For most of the time he has been in office, high<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/gas-prices\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> gas prices<\/a> have been a problem for President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" title=\"\">Joe Biden<\/a>. With Trump set to take office on Jan. 20, 2025, it remains to be seen what will happen with gas prices during Trump&rsquo;s second term.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, gas prices continue to fluctuate across the nation. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hawaii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Hawaii<\/a> has the most expensive gas prices in the country, at $4.574 per gallon. Meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/oklahoma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Oklahoma<\/a> has the least expensive gas in the nation, at $2.514 per gallon.<a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> Click here<\/a> to see the cost of gas in different states. Read below to see the average prices for a gallon of regular gas in and around Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Delaware<\/h2>\n<p>Gas prices decreased in Delaware on Tuesday, falling to $3.008 per gallon. This was over a three-cent decrease in 24 hours for people in the First State. Prices in Delaware have dropped considerably from a week ago, when a gallon of regular gas was $3.12. The price of gas in Delaware has fluctuated a lot over the last month, with Tuesday&rsquo;s price only being about four cents less expensive than a month ago when regular gas was $3.047 per gallon.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Maryland<\/h2>\n<p>In Maryland, the price for a gallon of regular gas also decreased with Tuesday&rsquo;s price of $3.09 per gallon coming in nearly two cents less expensive than Monday&rsquo;s price. Prices are cheaper than they were a week ago in Maryland when a gallon of regular gas was $3.203. Gas prices have also fluctuated in the state over the last month. After hovering near the $3 per gallon mark, gas prices increased substantially within the last two weeks before starting to fall again. Tuesday&rsquo;s price is less expensive than a month ago, when regular gas in Maryland cost $3.138 per gallon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Virginia<\/h2>\n<p>Gas prices in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Virginia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Virginia<\/a> remained steady on Tuesday, decreasing ever-so-slightly to $2.952 per gallon from Monday&rsquo;s cost of $2.954. Tuesday&rsquo;s price was a decrease compared to a week ago, when a gallon of regular gas cost residents of Virginia $2.997 per gallon. For most of November, gas prices in Virginia were around the $3-per-gallon mark. Tuesday&rsquo;s price is also lower than the cost of gas in the state from a month ago, when a gallon of regular gas was $3.061.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Washington, D.C.<\/h2>\n<p>Gas prices in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Washington-DC\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington, D.C.<\/a> remained steady on Tuesday with the average price for a gallon of regular gas essentially remaining the same, with the slightest of increases to $3.235 from $3.234. This was less expensive than a week ago, when a gallon of regular gas cost $3.257. Tuesday&rsquo;s gas cost in the nation&rsquo;s capital is lower than a month ago, when regular gas was $3.284 per gallon.
