He criticized Mexico and Canada for \u2064not effectively \u2064stopping illegal migration and drug trafficking, especially as a caravan of migrants heads towards the U.S. border. In a statement on Truth Social, Trump stated \u2064that\u2062 he\u200b will\u200b implement a \u206225% tariff on all products from \u2062these countries starting January 20th, which \u2064will remain until there \u200bis a significant\u2064 reduction \u2063in drug \u2062trafficking and\u200b illegal immigration. He asserted that both Mexico and Canada have \u200cthe\u200b ability to \u200caddress these issues and should face financial consequences for not doing so. Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/113546215051155542\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"said\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders,&rdquo; he continued. &ldquo;This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mike-kelly-same-people-criticizing-trump-peddled-russia-collusion-hoax\/\" title=\"Mike Kelly: Same People Criticizing Trump Peddled Russia Collusion Hoax\">president-elect<\/a> said that the two countries have &ldquo;the absolute right and power&rdquo; to &ldquo;easily&rdquo; stop illegal migration and drug trafficking into the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price!&rdquo; he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the other post, he chastised China for failing to pull through on their end of the bargain regarding fentanyl production and trafficking.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Representatives of China told me that they would institute their maximum penalty, that of death, for any drug dealers caught doing this but, unfortunately, they never followed through, and drugs are pouring into our Country, mostly through Mexico, at levels never seen before,&rdquo; Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/113546215408213585\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"said\">said<\/a>. &ldquo;Until such time as they stop, we will be charging China an additional 10% Tariff, above any additional Tariffs, on all of their many products coming into the United States of America.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trump has usually pitched tariffs as necessary to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">combat predatory economic practices<\/a> by foreign governments and boost domestic manufacturing. This is one of the first cases where he explicitly pledged a harsh tariff as a punishment for political actions by foreign governments.<\/p>\n<p>The promised tariffs on Monday are in addition to much harsher tariffs promised compared to his first term.
