Phillip)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&ldquo;I want a fair and transparent process,&rdquo; Lopez said, adding that the hearing would allow all parties to present their cases.<\/p>\n<p>At issue is a challenge from First United American Companies, a limited liability firm linked to Jones&rsquo; dietary supplement business, which claims it offered a superior bid of $3.5 million in cash &mdash; double the $1.75 million cash bid from the <em>Onion<\/em>.&nbsp;The satirical publication&rsquo;s offer, however, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">includes future revenue-sharing arrangements supported<\/a> by the majority of Sandy Hook families, who are willing to forgo immediate payments to enable greater returns for other creditors.<\/p>\n<p>Bankruptcy trustee Christopher Murray, who managed the auction, defended the decision to accept the <em>Onion&rsquo;s<\/em>&nbsp;bid, which he estimated to be worth $7 million. Murray argued that the families&rsquo; willingness to participate in a revenue-sharing arrangement made&nbsp;the <em>Onion&rsquo;s<\/em>&nbsp;offer more advantageous for creditors overall.<\/p>\n<p>During a prior hearing after the auction, Murray testified that the creditors were &ldquo;significantly better off&rdquo; under the <em>Onion&rsquo;s <\/em>bid. The judge said the focus of the evidentiary hearing will be on Murray&rsquo;s business judgment as to how the auction was handled, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/business\/business-news\/judge-review-alex-jones-attempt-block-infowars-sale-onion-rcna181377\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">according<\/a> to NBC News.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Onion<\/em>&nbsp;has faced backlash since the auction&rsquo;s conclusion, with its lawyers reporting harassment and threats from Jones and his supporters. The satirical outlet plans to relaunch <em>Infowars<\/em> as &ldquo;the dumbest website on the internet,&rdquo; emphasizing parody and humor. The platform is reportedly in talks to host well-known comedians and content creators if the judge clears the sale.<\/p>\n<p>Jones, meanwhile, has called the auction &ldquo;fraudulent&rdquo; and claimed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/elon-musk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Elon Musk<\/a> and President-elect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Donald Trump<\/a> are investigating the process.
