Blanche and Bove wrote according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnewyork.com\/news\/local\/crime-and-courts\/donald-trump-sentencing-stayed-new-york-judge-to-hear-dismissal-motion\/6009577\/\">WNBC-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bragg however framed his opposition to letting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/barr-calls-braggs-case-trump-abomination-says-will-vote-former-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> off the hook as support for the jury system.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We have <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">significant competing constitutional interests &#038;mdash<\/a>; the office of the presidency and all the complications that come with that, and on the other hand, the sanctity of the jury verdict,&rdquo; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Legal scholar Jonathan Turley scoffed at Bragg&rsquo;s concept of putting the case on ice.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal would &ldquo;allow a city prosecutor to put a leash on a sitting president for four years,&rdquo; Turley wrote in an Op-Ed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/11\/19\/opinion\/bragg-tries-to-control-president-trump-by-delaying-case-throw-it-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Turley called Trump&rsquo;s election &ldquo;arguably the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-declares-total-and-definitive-victory-in-hush-money-case-after-moves-from-merchan-and-bragg\/\" title=\"Trump Declares &#039;Total and Definitive Victory&#039; in Hush Money Case After Moves from Merchan and Bragg\">largest jury decision<\/a> in history.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He said some evidence used against Trump likely would be stricken due to the Supreme Court&rsquo;s ruling giving a sitting president broad immunity from prosecution for his official acts.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The prosecutors not only elicited testimony from Trump aides in the White House but then doubled down on the significance of that evidence in their closing arguments. &nbsp;Merchan could declare that the court cannot rule out the impact of such testimony on the final verdict,&rdquo;
