He was declared the winner by the Associated Press on Nov. 7, but incumbent Democrat Sen. Bob Casey Jr. refused to concede for two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>But Casey finally admitted defeat on Thursday evening in a sober video posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-this-average-american-is-voting-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"Why This Average American Is Voting for Donald Trump\">social media<\/a>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-db22ae3d0cc01159ede007bad008451b fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-db22ae3d0cc01159ede007bad008451b\"><\/div>\n<p>&ldquo;I just called Dave McCormick to congratulate him on his election to represent Pennsylvania in the United States Senate,&rdquo; Casey said. &ldquo;As the first count of ballots is completed, Pennsylvanians can move forward with the knowledge that their voices were heard, whether their vote was the first to be counted or the last.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"CsE4zb\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">During my time in office, I have been guided by an inscription on the Finance Building in Harrisburg: &ldquo;All public service is a trust, given in faith and accepted in honor.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for your trust in me for all these years, Pennsylvania. That means overseas ballots and provisional ballots have been handled and counties can move toward certifying their results. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"psfG0y4UB5XQrCNczYmjPhgoZv2\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">As of 5 p.m. today, Pennsylvania&#8217;s counties have completed their initial count of all votes cast, with the exception of ballots under challenge. This is a major step that marks the end of counties&rsquo; initial counting processes and signals that counties begin preparing their results&hellip;<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; PA Department of State (@PAStateDept) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PAStateDept\/status\/1859719058171797611?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 21, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/span> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In the days immediately after the election, the results showed McCormick leading by more than <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/11\/07\/mccormick-flips-pennsylvania-senate-seat-republican-increasing-the-gops-advantage-in-the-upper-chamber\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">32,000 votes<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">projected math showed<\/a> no path to victory. As of Nov. 21, McCormick led by more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electionreturns.pa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">16,000 votes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvania election law calls for a mandatory recount when results show a margin of half of 1 percent or less. The losing candidate has the option to decline the recount. McCormick won with a .24 percent margin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electionreturns.pa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">as of<\/a> Nov. 21. Initially Casey <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/11\/14\/sen-casey-wants-ballots-from-unregistered-voters-to-be-counted-in-pennsylvania-recount\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wanted<\/a> the recount.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d322e63eaab66dc35ff61903ec046fb0 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d322e63eaab66dc35ff61903ec046fb0\"><\/div>\n<p>The Pennsylvania Department of State <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pa.gov\/en\/agencies\/dos\/newsroom\/unofficial-results-in-u-s--senate-race-trigger-legally-required-.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said the recoun<\/a>t would likely cost more than $1 million and the state has never had the results of a race overturned in a recount. It told counties that once they finished counting ballots, they must begin the recount <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/11\/14\/people-violate-laws-anytime-they-want-pa-county-dems-defy-state-law-to-count-hundreds-of-illegal-votes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">no later<\/a> than Wednesday, Nov. 20.<\/p>\n<p>Counties were to complete the recount by noon on Nov. 26 and report results to the secretary of state by noon on Nov. 27.<\/p>\n<p>Some counties have already completed their recount, and initial recount results, provided by the McCormick campaign in an email, were not helpful to Casey. In the same email, McCormick Communications Director Elizabeth Gregory said, &ldquo;Another day closer to this waste of time and money being over. We all know how this will end.&rdquo; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1f64658d2bb24ee18c5a9d27649c6d91 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1f64658d2bb24ee18c5a9d27649c6d91\"><\/div>\n<p>After Casey announced he was bowing out, Senator-elect McCormick released an email statement.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Senator Bob Casey dedicated his career to bettering our commonwealth.
