This support ‍appears to outstrip that for other potential candidates like California ‌Governor Gavin Newsom and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who lag‌ far behind with only 8-9% each.

Despite this apparent backing, the author‍ remains skeptical ‌about the seriousness of these polling results, noting that many factors could influence voter⁣ preferences by the time the election rolls around. They suggest that familiarity may play a ⁤role ⁤in Harris’s support, pointing to her prominence ⁤during the previous‍ campaign. Furthermore, the article critiques Harris’s performance as vice ⁤president, claiming she ⁤has been one of ⁣the least impressive public officials in U.S. history and would struggle in future debates.

The author concludes by implying ⁢that even though the polls indicate that a considerable portion of Democratic voters ⁤support Harris, the party elite ultimately exercise control over nominations, making actual voter preferences less relevant.

    Read more…

To paraphrase an old saying, never interrupt your opponents when they appear intent on making a mistake.

That does not mean, of course, that we should not try to understand our opponents’ otherwise inexplicable instinct for self-immolation.

According to two different polls conducted within the last week, Democratic Party voters prefer Vice President Kamala Harris as their 2028 presidential nominee by a wide margin over all other challengers.

For instance, an Echelon Insights survey of 1,010 likely voters showed that 41 percent of Democrats favored Harris, per Newsweek.

In that same survey, Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom of California placed second at only eight percent support.

Meanwhile, in a Morning Consult poll of 1,012 Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents, 43 percent of respondents preferred Harris.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg came in a distant second at nine percent.

📊 2028 National Democratic Primary

• Kamala Harris — 43%
• Pete Buttigieg — 9%
• Gavin Newsom — 8%
• Tim Walz — 7%
• Josh Shapiro — 5%
• A. Too many things will happen between now and then.

Still, the fact that more than two-fifths of Democrats seem content to run it back with Harris requires some explanation.

The two poll results, for instance, could reflect nothing more than name recognition. After all, during the 2024 presidential campaign, the establishment and its media minions conducted a propaganda blitz on Harris’s behalf. Low-information Democratic voters — but I repeat myself — might simply have selected the most familiar candidate.

Moreover, the vice president’s resounding defeat at the hands of President-elect Donald Trump has left many Democratic voters deeply embittered. Thus, the idea of giving it another go with their vanquished candidate — or at least saying that they want to give it another go — probably appeals on an emotional level to the party’s unhinged base.

On the whole, however, Democrats’ stated preference for Harris proves that they have learned nothing.

For nearly four years as vice president, including nearly four months on the campaign trail, Harris repeatedly, shockingly and hilariously exposed herself as one of the least impressive public officials in U.S. history. Her inability to say anything substantive, coupled with her propensity for speaking in word salads, should disqualify her from office.

To illustrate the enormity of this problem for Democrats, imagine a debate between Harris and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance. After watching Vance dominate Democratic vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz in last month’s debate, one could scarcely imagine a bigger mismatch in Republicans’ favor than Vance vs. Harris.

Indeed, should the 2028 Republican presidential nomination fall to Vance, former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, former Democratic presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard or any other young, brilliant and appealing Trump surrogate, the ensuing campaign, debates included, would showcase Harris’s myriad inadequacies.

In all likelihood, serious Democrats know this about Harris and thus will not allow her anywhere near their 2028 nomination.

Recall, for instance, Democrats’ July coup against President Joe Biden. By pressuring Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, Democratic elites showed that they, not voters, control the party.

And therein lies the irony of these two polls. When it comes to selecting candidates, Democratic voters’ preferences do not matter in the least.

       * Name

       *

      * Message

* All fields are required.

Success!

       function firefly_sc() { if( typeof window.captchaPublicKey==typeof undefined ){ console.error('window.captchaPublicKey is not defined'); } grecaptcha.execute( window.captchaPublicKey, { action: 'submit_correction' } ).then( function( token ) { var opts={ action: 'firefly_sc_submit', name: document.querySelector( '.entry-submit-correction [name="name"]' ).value, : document.querySelector( '.entry-submit-correction [name=""]' ).value, message: document.querySelector( '.entry-submit-correction [name="message"]' ).value, post_id: firefly_post_id, cap_token: token } var inputs=[ 'name', '', 'message' ]; for( var i=0; i <inputs.length; i++ ) if( ! However, this doesn’t imply we shouldn’t seek to comprehend their puzzling tendency towards self-destruction. Recent polls indicate that Democratic voters favor Vice President Kamala Harris as their 2028 presidential candidate by a significant margin over other contenders. For example, an Echelon Insights survey of 1,010 likely voters revealed that 41% of Democrats supported Harris, while California Governor Gavin Newsom garnered only 8%. Similarly, a Morning Consult poll of 1,012 Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents showed Harris with 43% support and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg trailing at just 9%.

While it’s important not to take these early polls too seriously given the time until the election and potential changes in circumstances, the fact that over two-fifths of Democrats are inclined to back Harris warrants some analysis. These results may simply reflect name recognition; during the previous campaign cycle, there was extensive media promotion for her candidacy. Many less-informed Democratic voters might have chosen her due to familiarity.

Additionally, after her defeat by President-elect Donald Trump left many in the party feeling disillusioned, there may be an emotional appeal in supporting their former candidate again. Overall though, this preference for Harris suggests a lack of learning from past experiences.

Throughout nearly four years as vice president and months on the campaign trail, Harris has often demonstrated herself as one of the least effective public officials in U.S. history due to her inability to communicate substantively and her tendency toward vague rhetoric—traits that should disqualify her from leadership roles. To illustrate how problematic this is for Democrats: envision a debate between Harris and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance; after witnessing Vance’s strong performance against Tim Walz last month, it’s hard to imagine a more lopsided contest favoring Republicans than one between him and Harris.

If Vance or another capable Republican were nominated for president in 2028—like Vivek Ramaswamy or Tulsi Gabbard—the ensuing debates would highlight all of Harris’s shortcomings even further. Serious-minded Democrats likely recognize these issues with her candidacy and will probably prevent her from securing their nomination come election time.

Recall how Democratic elites orchestrated Biden’s withdrawal from running again in July; this shows they wield control over candidate selection rather than relying on voter preferences—hence the irony surrounding these recent polls: when it comes down to choosing candidates within the party framework itself, what voters want holds little significance

[41461,40420,33017,45456,43846
post-2371714","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-2028-election","tag-democratic-voters","tag-political-analysis","tag-republican-strategy","tag-voter-trends
["GET
