Rep. \u2063Barry Loudermilk,\u2063 leading a review of the\u2064 earlier partisan investigation\u2062 headed by former \u200bRep. Liz \u200cCheney, has called for corrections \u200dto a DoD report from November 2021 that allegedly contains numerous inaccuracies regarding the military&#8217;s response to\u2064 the events of that day.<\/p>\n<p>Loudermilk&#8217;s inquiry \u200csuggests that\u2063 the DoD \u200dintentionally impeded the National Guard&#8217;s \u200creadiness and that the inspector \u200cgeneral&#8217;s \u2064office concealed information to present\u2064 a more \u2064favorable narrative for the Pentagon. Evidence cited includes emails and testimonies pointing to the\u200c failure of then-Army Secretary\u2063 Ryan McCarthy to communicate\u2064 effectively \u2064with the National Guard. The\u200b report also highlights that former\u200d President Trump\u2062 had ordered 10,000 troops to \u200cbe on standby, a fact that was reportedly downplayed by the House \u200bSelect Committee \u2064investigating the incident.<\/p>\n<p>In\u2064 the \u200clead-up to the riot, Cheney \u2063had coordinated an op-ed denouncing the call for \u200dtroop mobilization, \u200dwhile then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi raised concerns regarding the optics of deploying federal \u2064troops in\u2062 Washington, D.C. Additionally, \u2064Kash \u2062Patel, former chief of staff for the \u200cDoD, has stated he has provided\u200d extensive testimony regarding this issue over\u2064 the past\u2063 three years, supporting \u200bclaims that the narrative surrounding\u2064 Trump\u2019s actions\u200d has \u2062been misrepresented.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Federal bureaucrats within the Department of Defense (DoD) delayed the deployment of the National Guard on Jan. 6, 2021 and covered it up, according to a House Republican investigation of government conduct related to the Capitol riot. <\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., who is leading a review of the work completed by the partisan Jan. 6 probe run by then-Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, sent a letter to the inspector general for the Department of Defense demanding a correction to an agency <a href=\"https:\/\/media.defense.gov\/2021\/Nov\/19\/2002896088\/-1\/-1\/1\/DODIG-2022-039%20V2%20508.PDF\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> published in November 2021.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This report was the final product of the DoD IG&rsquo;s review into the events of January 6, and reviewed how the DoD responded to requests for support as the events unfolded,&rdquo; Loudermilk, the chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight for the House Administration Committee, wrote. &ldquo;Throughout the Subcommittee&rsquo;s extensive investigation into the failures of January 6, 2021, we have discovered numerous flaws and inaccuracies in the report that your office has yet to appropriately address.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Such flaws and inaccuracies, however, may have been part of a partisan cover-up after GOP lawmakers discovered the Pentagon was responsible for delays in guard deployment.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;After a thorough examination of emails and documents, including letters, memorandums, agreements, plans, orders, reports, briefings, statements made in congressional hearings, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/amb-sondland-sues-pompeo-state-department-for-1-8m-in-legal-fees\/\" title=\"Amb. Sondland Sues Pompeo, State Department for .8M in Legal Fees\">closed-door testimony<\/a> to the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol (&lsquo;Select Committee&rsquo;), and closed-door testimony made to the DoD IG,&rdquo; Loudermilk wrote, &ldquo;the Subcommittee&rsquo;s investigation has concluded that the Department of Defense intentionally delayed the deployment of the DC [National Guard] to the Capitol on January 6, 2021.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Furthermore,&rdquo; Loudermilk added, &ldquo;the Subcommittee also maintains that the DoD IG knowingly concealed the extent of the delay in constructing a narrative that is favorable to DoD and Pentagon leadership.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Loudermilk wrote the agency excluded testimony from myriad officials who blamed then-Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy for his failure to properly communicate with the National Guard over Jan. 6. Then-President Donald Trump had ordered 10,000 troops to be on standby for the day of electoral certification, a fact <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/08\/exclusive-liz-cheney-january-6-committee-suppressed-exonerating-evidence-of-trumps-push-for-national-guard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">covered up<\/a> by the House Select Committee on Jan. 6 which was eager to depict an apathetic commander-in-chief relishing in the violence at the Capitol.<\/p>\n<p>In the days leading up to Jan. 6, Cheney had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-9554985\/Liz-Cheney-secretly-orchestrated-Washington-Post-op-ed-ten-living-former-Defense-Secretaries.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">organized<\/a> an op-ed by former defense secretaries days to preemptively condemn troop mobilization. Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California, who was House speaker at the time, had also <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/11\/j6-footage-shows-pelosi-expressing-regret-over-national-guard-failure-i-take-responsibility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">objected<\/a> to the National Guard&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">preemptive deployment multiple time due<\/a> to the &ldquo;optics&rdquo; of additional federal troops in the capital.<\/p>\n<p>Kash Patel, who was chief of staff for the Department of Defense, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/12\/j6-committees-suppressed-evidence-scandal-exonerates-trump-from-insurrection-narrative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> in March for The Federalist, &ldquo;For over three years, I have done countless media interviews, answered numerous subpoenas, and testified before congressional committees and grand juries about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trumps-survival-is-seen-as-proof-that-thoughts-and-prayers-have-an-impact\/\" title=\"Trump&#039;s survival is seen as proof that &#039;thoughts and prayers&#039; have an impact\">45th president&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s actions regarding the National Guard in the lead-up to Jan. 6, 2021.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Unfortunately for the propaganda press, the truth never changed, nor did any of my testimony,&rdquo; Patel wrote. &ldquo;Indeed, Donald Trump authorized at least 10,000 National Guard troops days before Jan. 6 in the Oval Office with the secretary of defense, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, chief of staff to President Trump, me, and others present. Pursuant to that authorization, senior DOD officials were dispatched to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser&rsquo;s office and the Capitol Police.
