This price mirrors the figure from earlier in the\u2063 week, with only a slight fluctuation \u200bobserved on Wednesday. Gas prices are now at their lowest since June 2021, when the price was $3.064 per gallon. After\u2063 experiencing high prices\u200d over $3 and sometimes over $4 \u200cper\u200b gallon for more than three years, a\u200d gradual decline began in May 2024. Currently, states like Hawaii report\u200b the highest prices at $4.574 per gallon, while\u2062 Oklahoma has the lowest at\u2062 $2.563.<\/p>\n<p>In \u200bVirginia, gas prices decreased to $2.982 after hovering\u200b around the $3 mark, \u200bproviding some \u200crelief to drivers, while Maryland has seen a recent drop to $3.157\u200b after a short spike. Thursday&rsquo;s price for regular gas is $3.063 per gallon, <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to AAA<\/a>.&nbsp;This is the same price as on Tuesday. On Wednesday, there was a very minuscule increase when the price was $3.066.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>Gas prices are at their lowest price point since June 2021 when the average cost for a gallon of gas was $3.064, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/dnav\/pet\/hist\/leafhandler.ashx?n=pet&amp;s=emm_epmr_pte_nus_dpg&amp;f=m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Energy Information Administration<\/a>. After hitting record highs in 2022, the highest in the nation&rsquo;s history, gas prices began to decrease later in the year. With Trump set to take office on Jan. 20, 2025, it remains to be seen what will happen with gas prices during Trump&rsquo;s second term.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, gas prices continue to fluctuate across the nation. Currently,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hawaii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> Hawaii<\/a> has the most expensive gas prices in the country at $4.574 per gallon. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/oklahoma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Oklahoma<\/a>, meanwhile, has the least expensive gas in the nation with a price of $2.563 per gallon.<a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> Click here<\/a> to see the cost of gas in different states. Read below to see the average prices for a gallon of regular gas in and around Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Virginia<\/h2>\n<p>Gas prices in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Virginia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Virginia<\/a> fell to $2.982 on Thursday. This is after hovering around the $3-per-gallon range for the last week. On Tuesday, the state&rsquo;s average cost for a gallon of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">regular gas dropped slightly<\/a> to $2.997. On Friday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Virginia was $3.015. A week ago, it was $3.012. Despite the recent fluctuations, the decrease in gas prices will come as a relief to Virginia drivers as Thursday&rsquo;s price is less expensive than a month ago, when a gallon of regular gas was $3.081.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Maryland<\/h2>\n<p>After a recent surge in gas prices in Maryland, which saw an increase of nearly twenty cents in less than two weeks, the average cost for a gallon of regular gas decreased on Wednesday to $3.157. This was an almost four-cent drop from Wednesday when the cost was $3.199 per gallon. Prices remain more expensive than a week ago when regular gas cost $3.11 per gallon. The same holds for prices a month ago, albeit ever-so-slightly, when a gallon of regular gas was $3.155.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Delaware<\/h2>\n<p>Gas prices in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Delaware\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Delaware<\/a> decreased on Thursday to a new price of $3.081 per gallon. A week ago, a gallon of regular gas in the state was nearly eight cents less expensive, costing $3.006. Until recently, gas prices in the First State fluctuated between $3 and $2.95 per gallon. Due to the surge in Delaware&rsquo;s gas prices, a gallon of regular gas costs slightly more right now than a month ago, when it was $3.073.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Washington, D.C.<\/h2>\n<p>Gas prices decreased on Thursday in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Washington-DC\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington, D.C.<\/a>, coming in at a price of $3.240 per gallon. Prices have remained steady over the last month fluctuating between $3.25 and $3.30. This holds true for gas prices from a week ago, when a gallon of regular gas was $3.256.
