Nevertheless, Rainey noted that it&#8217;s \u2064still early to identify which specific items might\u200c see price increases. \u200bWalmart joins other retailers like \u200bLowe&#8217;s and e.l.f. (AP Photo\/Steven Senne, File)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Rainey said the majority of Walmart&rsquo;s products wouldn&rsquo;t be affected by tariffs as two-thirds of the company&rsquo;s inventory comes from the United States. When Trump imposed levies during his first administration, it shocked retailers in a similar way, making their adjustments reminiscent of seven years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;ve been living under a tariff environment for seven years, so we&rsquo;re pretty familiar with that,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Tariffs, though, are inflationary for customers, so we want to work with suppliers and with our own private brand assortment to try to bring down prices.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Walmart is the latest retailer to warn of the effect of tariffs. Throughout his presidential campaign, Trump has said he would impose a 10% to 20% tariff on all imports, with some countries such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">China&rsquo;s<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Mexico&rsquo;s<\/a> goods seeing tariffs as high as 60% to 100% &mdash; and even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3179026\/trump-threatens-impose-tariff-vehicles-mexico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">200%<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Companies such as Lowe&rsquo;s, e.l.f. Beauty, and Steve Madden have also been outspoken regarding the effect that the tariffs would have. Tarang Amin, e.l.f. Beauty&rsquo;s CEO, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/11\/06\/elf-beauty-elf-earnings-q2-2025.html#:~:text=Amin%20said%20the%20company%20is%20well%2Dpositioned%20to%20weather%20increased%20tariffs%20that%20could%20be%20imposed%20under%20President%2Delect%20Donald%20Trump.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"said\">said<\/a> the company may have to raise prices if higher tariffs take effect.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Madden CFO Edward Rosenfeld <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/11\/07\/steve-madden-to-slash-china-sourcing-as-trumps-tariff-plan-looms.html#:~:text=%E2%80%9Cplanning%20for%20a%20potential%20scenario%20in%20which%20we%20would%20have%20to%20move%20goods%20out%20of%20China%20more%20quickly.%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">told<\/a> CNBC the brand has been &ldquo;planning for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mcconnell-shreds-controversial-bill-democrats-trying-to-pass-even-the-left-wing-aclu-opposes-this-bill\/\" title=\"McConnell Shreds Controversial Bill Democrats Trying To Pass: \u2018Even The Left-Wing ACLU Opposes This Bill\u2019\">potential scenario<\/a> in which we would have to move goods out of China more quickly.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We currently source a little bit more than 70% of those goods from China,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;Our goal over the next year is to reduce that percentage of goods that we sourced from China by approximately 40% to 45%, which means that if we&rsquo;re able to achieve that and we think we have the plan to do it, that a year from today, we would be looking at just over a quarter of our business that would be subject to potential tariffs on Chinese goods.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>Walmart has also been attempting to diversify its imports to avoid relying so much on China, and Lowe&rsquo;s has begun to do the same to avoid the harshest effects of Trump&rsquo;s tariffs.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lowe&rsquo;s CFO Brandon Sink <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/business\/business-news\/walmart-will-likely-raise-prices-trump-tariffs-take-effect-cfo-says-rcna180796#:~:text=He%20said%20tariffs,happen%2C%E2%80%9D%20he%20said.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">said<\/a> tariffs &ldquo;certainly would add product costs&rdquo;
