Washington was accused of instructing staff \u2064to avoid homes \u200cdisplaying Trump campaign signs while providing services \u2064to hurricane victims in Florida following Hurricanes \u200bHelene and Milton. During testimony before a House Transportation\u2064 and \u200cInfrastructure subcommittee, Criswell stated that \u2062Washington acted independently and was not directed by\u2062 her \u2062supervisors. \u200bCriswell emphasized\u200d that such actions are unacceptable at \u2062FEMA and confirmed the employee&#8217;s\u200d firing was based on \u2063clear\u2062 evidence of misconduct. I concurred and directed the termination, and the employee was fired,&rdquo; she stated.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I released a statement that day, and I will repeat what I said to all of my employees and the American people: This type of behavior and action will not be tolerated at FEMA, and we will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/d-c-mayor-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/donald-trump-ends-negotiations-with-nancy-pelosi-on-coronavirus-relief\/\" title=\"Donald Trump Ends Negotiations with Nancy Pelosi on Coronavirus Relief\">congress<\/a>-must-open-a-probe-into-security-failures-at-u-s-capitol\/&#8221; title=&#8221;D.C. Mayor: Congress must open a probe into security failures at U.S. Capitol&#8221;>hold people accountable<\/a> if they violate our standards of conduct,&rdquo; FEMA&rsquo;s administrator said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/in_focus\/3177509\/what-maga-gop-will-look-like-post-donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>WHAT MAGA AND THE GOP WILL LOOK LIKE IN A POST-TRUMP ERA<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since being fired, Washington has claimed that her actions came at the direction of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/investigations\/3230594\/fema-officials-sued-by-florida-attorney-general\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">FEMA<\/a> higher-ups, telling the <em>Washington Examiner <\/em>she was a &ldquo;patsy&rdquo; made to take the fall for the administration.<\/p>\n<p>Criswell denied those allegations, testifying on Tuesday that the agency&rsquo;s internal investigation yielded no evidence &ldquo;of any widespread cultural problems at FEMA.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, Rep.
