Schiff argued that Gaetz \u2063is \u201cdisqualified\u201d due to \u201ccredible allegations\u201d \u200clinking him to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hiltons-current-hunger-strike-for-free-speech\/\" title=\"Hilton&#039;s ongoing hunger strike for freedom of speech.\">child sex\u2062 trafficking<\/a> and a lack\u2062 of relevant experience in the Justice \u2062Department. He added that voters did not elect Trump for his &ldquo;retribution-destruction tour&rdquo; that the president-elect is enacting.<\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has encouraged the House Ethics Committee not to release its yearslong investigation on Gaetz, suggesting that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3231529\/johnson-house-ethics-committee-withhold-gaetz-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">&ldquo;a former member is beyond the jurisdiction&rdquo;<\/a> of the committee. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3229931\/matt-gaetz-resignation-congress-replacement-florida-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Gaetz resigned from Congress<\/a> shortly after he was nominated by Trump to serve as attorney general.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>House Judiciary Committee Chairman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jim-jordan\/\">Jim Jordan<\/a> (R-OH) has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3231421\/jim-jordan-gaetz-ethics-report-shouldnt-go-public\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">pushed against releasing the report to the public<\/a>, as it was his &ldquo;understanding&rdquo; that, according to committee rules, the report was &ldquo;not supposed to go public.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Sens.
