Jared Polis (D-CO) broke with the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/democratic-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> Democratic Party<\/a> to endorse President-elect Donald Trump&rsquo;s move to nominate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/rfk-jr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Robert F. Kennedy Jr.<\/a> to head the Department of Health and Human Services.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/healthcare\/3230829\/four-things-rfk-jr-said-he-will-do-as-head-hhs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">tapped<\/a> Kennedy to helm the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/martel-jair-bolsonaro-once-latin-americas-biggest-anti-china-hope-silent-on-genocide-olympics\/\" title=\"Martel: Jair Bolsonaro, Once Latin America&#039;s Biggest Anti-China Hope, Silent on Genocide Olympics\">federal health agency<\/a> on Thursday, invoking instant condemnation from top Democrats who have characterized the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">long-time environmental lawyer<\/a> as anti-vaccine and a &ldquo;fringe conspiracy theorist.&rdquo; Polis was not one of them, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jaredpolis\/status\/1857173250586911189?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">posting<\/a> a series of praises explaining his support for Kennedy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Declaring he was &ldquo;excited&rdquo; by the news, Polis expressed hope that Kennedy would inject &ldquo;personal choice&rdquo; into vaccine requirements and shared he was &ldquo;optimistic&rdquo; that the prospective HHS secretary could break up &ldquo;big pharma and the corporate ag oligopoly.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I&rsquo;m excited by the news that the President-Elect will appoint <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RobertKennedyJr?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RobertKennedyJr<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HHSGov?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@HHSGov<\/a>. After Trump won the election on Nov. 5, Polis swiftly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3228243\/democratic-governors-announce-alliance-counter-trump-white-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"announced\">announced<\/a> an alliance called the Governors Safeguarding Democracy which aims to push back on the next Republican administration. <\/p>\n<p>But that clearly hasn&rsquo;t stopped him from backing Kennedy, with enthusiasm that couldn&rsquo;t be farther from his colleagues&rsquo; rhetoric in the Senate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">President Joe Biden greets Colorado Gov. Patty Murray (D-WA) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PattyMurray\/status\/1857189768616083493\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">blasted<\/a> the news Trump had nominated Kennedy to lead the HHS.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There&rsquo;s no telling how far an anti-vaxxer &amp; fringe conspiracy theorist like RFK Jr. could set America back in terms of public health, reproductive rights, research, &amp; more,&rdquo; she said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Polis responded to criticism of RFK Jr. in a follow-up X&nbsp;post as he clarified that &ldquo;I am vaccinated as is my family. I will hold any HHS Secretary to the same high standard of protecting and improving public health.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>While Kennedy has often expressed concern over a 1986 law that made vaccine manufacturers immune from any financial liabilities, meaning people cannot sue the companies in question for harm that results from inoculation, he has also noted that he is vaccinated. The long-time health advocate has argued that he only wants to conduct vaccine safety studies and investigate federal data on vaccine efficacy because he believes vaccines should be tested &ldquo;like other medicines.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Robert F. People ought to have a choice, and that choice ought to be informed by the best information,&rdquo; he said during an interview with NBC earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the Democratic backlash from Kennedy&rsquo;s plans to push for &ldquo;safe vaccines,&rdquo; among other health priorities, Polis pointed to his goals of divesting federal health agencies of corporate influence as a good sign for the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Colorado governor celebrated a quote from Kennedy saying &ldquo;In some categories, there are entire departments, like the nutrition department at the FDA that are &ndash; that have to go, that are not doing their job, they&rsquo;re not protecting our kids.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;YES!,&rdquo; Polis responded. &ldquo;The entire nutrition regime is dominated by big corporate ag rather than human health and they do more harm than good.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is greeted by Robert F.
