They claimed\u2062 that a bear had \u200bcaused \u200ddamage to their\u2064 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dc-pastor-allegedly-used-coronavirus-relief-funds-to-buy-39-cars-and-a-house\/\" title=\"DC Pastor Allegedly Used Coronavirus Relief Funds To Buy 39 Cars And A House\">luxury vehicles<\/a>, including a Rolls-Royce and two Mercedes. The suspects provided video evidence showing a &#8220;bear&#8221; inside\u2063 the cars, but investigators suspected it was a\u200b person in a\u2063 bear costume. A \u200breview by a state \u2063wildlife biologist confirmed \u2064this suspicion. After further investigation and a search of \u200dthe suspects&#8217; home, the actual bear costume was found. But bears caught on <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">camera entering luxury cars tipped<\/a> off insurers that something wasn&rsquo;t quite right.<\/p>\n<p>In what it&rsquo;s dubbed &ldquo;Operation Bear Claw,&rdquo; the California Insurance Department said four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dodgers-star-robbed-wife-near-los-angeles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Los Angeles<\/a> residents were arrested Wednesday, accused of defrauding three insurance companies out of nearly $142,000 by claiming a bear had caused damage to their vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>The group is accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/desantis-campaign-responds-to-closure-of-unaffiliated-scam-pac\/\" title=\"DeSantis Campaign reacts to shutdown of independent &#039;fraudulent&#039; PAC.\">providing video footage<\/a> from the San Bernardino Mountains in January of a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fbi-intervenes-murder-unidentified-man-tennessee-staged-bear-attack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bear<\/a>&rdquo; moving inside a Rolls-Royce and two Mercedes to the insurance companies as part of their damage claims, the department said. Photos provided by the insurance department show what appeared to be scratches on the seats and doors.<\/p>\n<p>The company viewing video of the Rolls-Royce suspected that it was not a bear inside, but someone in a bear costume.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives found two additional claims, with two different insurance companies, for the four with the same date of loss and at the same location.
