Currently, Republicans are projected to\u200d win at least 203 House seats, an increase \u200dfrom \u2062the 197\u200d seats they\u2064 held prior to the election, while Democrats held 191. Additionally, Republicans have retained control of the state Senate and the governor&#8217;s mansion, acquiring 16 out of \u200c24 Senate \u2064seats.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Kelly Ayotte is projected\u2064 to defeat Democrat Joyce Craig by \u2063a significant margin of 9.3 points in the gubernatorial race. As of this article&rsquo;s publication, Republicans are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/11\/05\/us\/elections\/results-new-hampshire.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">projected<\/a> to win at least 203 House seats. The GOP <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/New_Hampshire_House_of_Representatives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">held<\/a> 197 seats heading into the Nov. 5 contest, compared to Democrats&rsquo; 191.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d1f344ce15e7e45d04d251325098fd4a fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d1f344ce15e7e45d04d251325098fd4a\"><\/div>\n<p>Republicans holding their House majority is welcome news after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/11\/05\/us\/elections\/results-new-hampshire.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">preliminary results<\/a> last week showed them retaining the state Senate and governor&rsquo;s mansion. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/11\/05\/us\/elections\/results-new-hampshire.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>, Republicans won 16 of the state&rsquo;s 24 Senate seats, giving them a veto-proof supermajority in the upper chamber. The GOP <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/New_Hampshire_State_Senate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">held<\/a> 14 Senate seats heading into last week&rsquo;s election. <\/p>\n<p>Republican gubernatorial candidate Kelly Ayotte is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/11\/05\/us\/elections\/results-new-hampshire.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">projected<\/a> to defeat Democrat Joyce Craig by 9.3 points. Ayotte became the GOP nominee earlier this year after current Gov. Chris Sununu <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/07\/19\/new-hampshire-sununu-no-reelection-2024-00107071\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> last year he would not be seeking a fifth term in office.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!&rdquo; Ayotte <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KellyAyotte\/status\/1854894144490967475\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> on X. &ldquo;I am honored to have the privilege of serving as your next Governor. Now, let&rsquo;s keep New Hampshire moving in the right direction!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The governor-elect represented New Hampshire in the U.S. Senate from 2011-2017.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-104a1ac89482a5c3e6c0c137de04f9e8 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-104a1ac89482a5c3e6c0c137de04f9e8\"><\/div>\n<p>Maintaining trifecta control will allow Republicans to pass conservative priorities such as legislation instrumental to ensuring integrity in the state&rsquo;s elections. Earlier this year, for example, Sununu signed into law a Republican-passed bill strengthening New Hampshire&rsquo;s voter ID and proof of citizenship requirements. As The Federalist&rsquo;s Breccan Thies <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/17\/new-hampshire-governor-signs-no-excuse-voter-id-and-citizenship-law-but-it-wont-matter-in-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, House Bill 1569 requires &ldquo;voters to provide proof of citizenship to apply for registration, as well as a photo ID when casting a ballot.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The measure was not in effect for the Nov. 5 general election, however. H.B. 1569 builds upon legislation passed and signed into law last year. As The Federalist previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/11\/06\/court-democrats-have-no-evidence-to-challenge-new-hampshires-voter-id-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, that bill &ldquo;altered the process by which voters verify their identity when casting their ballot.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>The law faced an onslaught of lawfare from leftist groups, who baselessly <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/11\/06\/court-democrats-have-no-evidence-to-challenge-new-hampshires-voter-id-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">contended<\/a> the provisions violated Granite Staters&rsquo; constitutional rights. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/with-new-documents-the-biden-administrations-targeting-of-a-pro-life-dad-just-got-crazier-2\/\" title=\"With New Documents, The Biden Administration\u2019s Targeting Of A Pro-Life Dad Just Got Crazier\">state court dismissed<\/a> these arguments in a November 2023 decision. <\/p>\n<p>The New Hampshire GOP released its 2025 legislative priorities prior to the 2024 general election.
