Hovde has <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">remained silent publicly<\/a> since the day after the election and has not requested \u2062a \u2064recount, despite the close results which fall within the\u200d permissible margin for a\u2062 recount in Wisconsin (under 1%).\u2064 Baldwin has\u200b already celebrated her victory, highlighting that\u2062 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/super-snub-squad-democrat-ilhan-omar-didnt-vote-uncommitted-this-week-or-at-all\/\" title=\"Ilhan Omar, a &#039;Squad&#039; Democrat, didn&#039;t vote &#039;uncommitted&#039; this week or ever\">voters\u200c chose<\/a> a candidate focused\u2064 on \u2062serving Wisconsin rather than outside interests. Baldwin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/3216903\/tammy-baldwin-eric-hovde-wisconsin-senate-rac02024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">won the race <\/a>by 29,166 votes, beating Hovde 49.4% to 48.5%.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We will continue to monitor returns and make sure that every vote is counted,&rdquo; Hovde <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/EricHovde\/status\/1854179709321363916\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">said<\/a> on social media in his last public statement. He has not posted since.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Associated Press<\/em> called the race the day after the election on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The people of Wisconsin have chosen someone who always puts Wisconsin first, someone who shows up, listens, and works with everyone to get the job done. And they rejected the billionaires and the special interests who want to come to our state, spread hate and division, and buy their way into power,&rdquo; Baldwin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wispolitics.com\/2024\/baldwin-campaign-ap-calls-wisconsin-senate-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">said<\/a> in her victory statement. She will serve a third term in the Senate. Hovde frequently faced questions regarding<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/3179743\/residency-questions-drag-gop-senate-nominees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> his residency<\/a> due to his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-bob-costas-slams-olympic-committee-for-aiding-and-abetting-china\/\" title=\"WATCH: Bob Costas Slams Olympic Committee for \u2018Aiding and Abetting\u2019 China\">strong business ties<\/a> in California.<\/p>\n<p>If the results are under 1% of a difference in votes, candidates have a right to request a recount in Wisconsin. In this race, Baldwin defeated Hovde by 0.9%, which means Hovde has the right to ask for a recount. There is no automatic recount in Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>If the margin between the two candidates is 0.25% or less, the state <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2024\/11\/12\/when-is-the-deadline-for-eric-hovde-to-request-recount-in-wisconsin\/76220307007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">would<\/a> pay for the recount. If the margin is above 0.25%, the campaign has to pay for the recount, which means that under the current margin, Hovde would have to pay for the recount. Hovde&rsquo;s campaign was largely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2967857\/wisconsin-senate-eric-hovde-outraises-tammy-baldwin-majority-of-funds-from-himself\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">self-funded<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>By Nov. 19, each Wisconsin county must certify their election results. The deadline to request a recount is 5 p.m. three business days after that, which means Hovde has until 5 p.m. on Nov. 22 to request a recount.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hovde&rsquo;s campaign did not respond to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>&rsquo;s request for comment on when he plans to concede or if he will request a recount.
