In an interview on MSNBC, Mayes, a Democrat, said she would not be &ldquo;intimidated&rdquo; into dropping the case following Trump&rsquo;s victory in the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I have no intention of dropping that case. A grand jury in the state of Arizona decided that these individuals who engaged in an attempt to overthrow our democracy in 2020 should be held accountable,&rdquo; Mayes said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;So we won&rsquo;t be cowed. We won&rsquo;t be intimidated. And patriots across the country must stand up for our Constitution, for what is lawful,&rdquo; she added.<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of Trump losing the 2020 election, fake electors signed a document that baselessly claimed Trump won Arizona. President Joe Biden won the state in 2020 by a little more than 11,000 votes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Everyone charged in Arizona has been arraigned and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2024-election\/trump-allies-plead-not-guilty-arizona-fake-electors-case-rcna153264\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">pleaded not guilty<\/a>. Former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/state\/3111473\/jenna-ellis-agrees-cooperate-arizona-elector-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">entered a plea deal<\/a> to have her charges dropped in exchange for cooperating with prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The case is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/3135078\/trial-date-january-2026-arizona-fake-electors-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">set to go to trial<\/a> in 2026, five years after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/powerful-l-a-democrat-and-great-friend-of-obama-indicted-on-federal-corruption-charges\/\" title=\"Powerful L.A. Democrat And \u2018Great Friend\u2019 Of Obama Indicted On Federal Corruption Charges\">alleged crimes occurred<\/a>. Meadows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3157308\/judge-rules-against-mark-meadows-moving-arizona-fake-electors-case-federal-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">tried to move his case<\/a> to federal court but failed to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors in Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin have also <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">filed criminal charges related<\/a> to the fake electors scheme.
