He explained that Republicans have a process called &ldquo;budget reconciliation&rdquo; and that one of the priorities is renewing Trump&rsquo;s tax cuts from his first term.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3220465\/what-trump-promised-day-one-white-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>WHAT TRUMP HAS PROMISED TO DO ON DAY 1 IN THE OVAL OFFICE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Many of those which expire that we passed in 2017, we want to renew those cuts so that families don&rsquo;t see a tax increase, and President Trump on the campaign trail talked about some other things he wants to include there,&rdquo; Scalise said on Fox News&rsquo;s <em>Fox &amp; Friends<\/em>. &ldquo;We can include more American energy production. You know, you want to talk, Lawrence, about getting our economy back on track, let&rsquo;s open up more American energy that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris shut down. The ability to produce more energy in our country, it will lower costs for things like gasoline and food for families who are struggling, and it really takes leverage away from countries like Russia, like Iran, like Venezuela. So geopolitically, it has a lot of benefits too.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 640px; max-height: 360px; min-width: 320px; min-height: 180px; overflow: hidden;\">\n<div style=\"position: relative; width: 100%; padding-top: 56.25%;\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/share.grabien.com\/share.php?id=2687272&amp;userid=11311&amp;loginid=9421&amp;playercolor=%23000000&amp;playersize=auto&amp;code=5ec5af74d019dc28cada06260e8647bc\" style=\"position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; border: 0px;\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Scalise also previewed how the Trump administration will work with billionaire and X owner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/elon-musk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Elon Musk<\/a> to cut rules and regulations to save money, such as getting rid of &ldquo;stupid things like banning gas stoves and banning combustion engines.&rdquo; He contended that these kinds of regulations have only harmed the United States and have, in turn, aided other countries such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">China<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the 2024 elections, Scalise predicted the Republicans will end the election season with around 221-223 seats in the House. He added that it &ldquo;still hurts&rdquo; how the party lost some close races in New York, but he added there are seats that the party can flip, including in Alaska.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One &ldquo;major victory&rdquo; in Congress that Republicans can take, Scalise noted, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/3212202\/bob-casey-dave-mccormick-pennsylvania-senate-race-results\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">flipping the Pennsylvania Senate seat occupied by incumbent Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA)<\/a>. Republican Sen.-elect Dave McCormick had a 0.5-percentage-point lead over Casey, a three-term senator, when <em>Associated Press<\/em> called the race around 4 p.m. on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Following Trump&rsquo;s victory in the presidential election, Scalise called to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3220788\/steve-scalise-calls-trump-criminal-cases-dropped-immediately\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">&ldquo;immediately terminate the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nathan-wade-nowhere-to-be-found-as-house-republicans-attempt-to-subpoena-him-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Nathan Wade nowhere to be found as House Republicans attempt to subpoena him - Washington Examiner\">politically motivated prosecutions&#038;rdquo<\/a>; against the president-elect<\/a>, who was facing a myriad of legal battles while campaigning for president and is set to be sentenced for 34 counts of falsifying business records on Nov. 26.
