Preliminary results indicate that about 73% of voters supported the Voter Identification Initiative \u2062(Question 7), which will require a\u200c valid photo ID for\u2062 in-person voting and verification of identity for mail-in ballots\u2064 through various\u2064 means. This initiative must pass in two\u200b consecutive general elections\u200b to amend the state&#8217;s constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Conversely,\u2062 a majority of voters\u201457%\u2014rejected Question 3, which sought to implement a\u200c top-five <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/glenn-youngkin-wins-gop-nomination-for-governor-of-virginia\/\" title=\"Glenn Youngkin Wins GOP Nomination For Governor Of Virginia\">ranked-choice voting system<\/a>. Critics of RCV\u200b argue it is flawed and has led to controversial election outcomes. As a result of this rejection, the initiative will not become part of Nevada&#8217;s constitution, as it\u200b requires votes in two consecutive elections to be adopted. This election \u200cmarks the second time Question 3 was presented to voters, following its \u2062previous passage in \u200bthe \u20622022 midterms. return false;\" title=\"Printer Friendly, PDF &amp; Email\"><span id=\"printfriendly-text2\" class=\"pf-button-text\"><i class=\"mdi mdi-printer\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<p>Nevada voters are projected to pass a ballot amendment requiring eligible electors to present a form of photo ID when voting and reject a separate initiative seeking to bring ranked-choice voting to the state. <\/p>\n<p>According to The New York Times, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/11\/05\/us\/elections\/results-nevada.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">preliminary results<\/a> show the <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/wiki\/index.php?title=Nevada_Question_7,_Voter_Identification_Initiative_(2024)&amp;redirect=no\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Voter Identification Initiative (Question 7)<\/a> passing with 73 percent of electors voting &ldquo;yes&rdquo; and 27 percent voting &ldquo;no.&rdquo; At the time of this article&rsquo;s publication, approximately 78 percent of votes have been tabulated.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9365cf79c6e974f2e7e777298b48fbdf fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9365cf79c6e974f2e7e777298b48fbdf\"><\/div>\n<p>As The Federalist previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/23\/can-this-grassroot-groups-ballot-chasing-efforts-help-turn-nevada-red-this-november\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, Question 7 would require eligible voters to present a valid form of photo ID when voting in person. Those voting by mail would &ldquo;have to verify their identity using the last four digits of their driver&rsquo;s license or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">social security number<\/a> or the number provided by the county clerk when the voter is registered to vote,&rdquo; according to Ballotpedia.<\/p>\n<p>In Nevada, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/can-this-groups-ballot-chasing-efforts-deliver-nv-for-the-gop\/\" title=\"Can This Group&#039;s Ballot-Chasing Efforts Deliver NV For The GOP?\">constitutional amendment proposals produced<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">citizen-led signature collection campaigns&#038;nbsp<\/a>;<a href=\"https:\/\/thenevadaindependent.com\/fact-briefs\/do-amendments-to-the-nevada-constitution-have-to-be-approved-twice-before-enactment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">must<\/a>&nbsp;be passed by voters in two consecutive general elections to amend the state&rsquo;s founding document. This year&rsquo;s election will be the voter ID initiative&rsquo;s first appearance on the ballot, which means it will need to be approved by voters during the state&rsquo;s next general election to add it to the Nevada Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Nevadans rejected Question 3, which sought to implement a top-five ranked-choice voting (RCV) scheme in the state&rsquo;s elections.<\/p>\n<p>Often referred to as &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/these-election-integrity-initiatives-might-be-on-your-2024-ballot\/\" title=\"These Election Integrity Initiatives Might Be On Your 2024 Ballot\">rigged-choice voting&#038;rdquo<\/a>; by its critics,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/10\/31\/ranked-choice-voting-is-the-monster-under-the-bed-of-american-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RCV<\/a>&nbsp;is an election system in which voters rank candidates of all parties in order of preference. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of first-choice votes in the first round of voting, the last-place finisher is eliminated, and his votes are reallocated to the voter&rsquo;s second-choice candidate. This process continues until one candidate receives a majority of votes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6329cde1e8012c0ae479beb205479301 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-6329cde1e8012c0ae479beb205479301\"><\/div>\n<p>Early results <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/11\/05\/us\/elections\/results-nevada.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">show<\/a> Question 3 garnering &ldquo;no&rdquo; votes from 57 percent of voters, according to The New York Times. <\/p>\n<p>Democrats have&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/10\/31\/ranked-choice-voting-is-the-monster-under-the-bed-of-american-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">often<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/15\/communists-cheer-ranked-choice-voting-as-a-weapon-for-defeating-conservatives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pushed<\/a>&nbsp;RCV as a way of winning traditionally Republican seats. The system has also <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/10\/31\/ranked-choice-voting-is-the-monster-under-the-bed-of-american-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">produced<\/a> lopsided election results and races with high rates of discarded ballots.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second consecutive general election Question 3 was considered by Nevada voters. The measure previously passed during the state&rsquo;s 2022 midterm elections.
