This <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">surprising result generated significant buzz<\/a>, but in the actual\u200d election, Trump won decisively with 55.6% of the votes compared to Harris&#8217;s 43.0%, according to\u200d preliminary counts with\u2062 81% \u200cof \u2063the\u200d votes reported. The Associated \u2064Press called the race\u200c for Trump just under two hours after polls closed. \u2064Pollster\u200c J. However, Trump prevailed over Harris on Tuesday night 55.6%-43.0%, with 81% of the vote counted.<\/p>\n<p>The race was called by the <em>Associated Press<\/em> at 10:40 p.m. Eastern, less than two hours after the polls closed in the Hawkeye State.<\/p>\n<p>Pollster J. Ann Selzer had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3214550\/harris-leads-trump-in-iowa-by-3-points-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"said\">said<\/a> on Saturday that it was &ldquo;hard for anybody to say they saw this coming&rdquo; and claimed that Harris had &ldquo;clearly leaped into a leading position.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>The Trump campaign at the time had pointed to an Emerson College poll that had the former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/poll-trump-leads-2024-republican-primary-by-58-points\/\" title=\"Poll: Trump leads 2024 Republican Primary by 58 Points\">president leading<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: &#039;Pipeline&#039; to Obama Admin Seen as &#039;Currency&#039;\">vice president<\/a> by roughly 10%. The Emerson poll appears to be a closer representation of Tuesday&rsquo;s results.<\/p>\n<p>After Trump&rsquo;s projected victory in Iowa, Trump campaign deputy political director Alex Latcham issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/__Pfeiffer\/status\/1854002937330311175\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"statement\">statement<\/a> celebrating the win and taking a job at the pollster.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Congratulations to Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance on their victory.
