The New York Times projected the proposal&rsquo;s passage. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-eba76f20cc5f9794cef9f164e6048685 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-eba76f20cc5f9794cef9f164e6048685\"><\/div>\n<p>As The Federalist previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/28\/north-carolina-sends-citizens-only-voting-amendment-to-voters-for-approval\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, the amendment stipulates that &ldquo;only a citizen of the United States&rdquo; who is 18 years old and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/citizens-only-voting-proposal-to-appear-on-ncs-november-ballot\/\" title=\"Citizens-Only Voting Proposal To Appear On NC&#039;s November Ballot\">meets existing voter eligibility requirements<\/a> may vote in elections held in the Tar Heel State. The measure was sent to voters for approval after it was passed by the state&rsquo;s Republican-controlled House (99-12) and Senate (40-4) earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Other states to have similar initiatives on their respective 2024 ballots include &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wispolitics.com\/2023\/constitutional-amendments-barring-non-citizens-from-voting-use-of-private-money-to-run-elections-head-to-voters-after-clearing-assembly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wisconsin<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Iowa_Require_Citizenship_to_Vote_in_Elections_and_Allow_17-Year-Olds_to_Vote_in_Primaries_Amendment_(2024)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Iowa<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/news.ballotpedia.org\/2024\/03\/20\/kentucky-voters-to-decide-on-amendment-to-prohibit-noncitizen-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kentucky<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/politics-policy\/elections\/citizen-only-voting-amendment-will-be-south-carolina-2024-ballot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">South Carolina<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.idahoreports.idahoptv.org\/2024\/03\/25\/noncitizen-voting-amendment-to-appear-on-idaho-2024-ballot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Idaho<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Efforts to prevent aliens from influencing American elections come amid Joe Biden and Kamala Harris&rsquo;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/border-invasion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">invasion<\/a>&nbsp;at the U.S.-Mexico border and increasing concerns that foreign nationals could exploit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/13\/without-the-save-act-the-only-thing-keeping-foreigners-from-voting-is-the-honor-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">existing federal loopholes<\/a>&nbsp;to interfere in America&rsquo;s electoral system.<\/p>\n<p>Despite attempts by their media allies to downplay such worries, Democrats have openly pushed for granting foreign nationals the ability to vote in U.S. elections. From blue cities permitting aliens to vote in their elections to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/election-integrity-groups-urge-north-carolina-to-pass-citizens-only-voting-amendment\/\" title=\"Election Integrity Advocates Push for Citizens-Only Voting Amendment in North Carolina\">elected leftists fighting efforts<\/a> to repeal such policies, Democrats have made it&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/06\/19\/dems-claim-they-arent-importing-an-electorate-but-these-5-examples-indicate-otherwise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abundantly clear<\/a>&nbsp;where they stand on the problem.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c2fe6e52cecaec21c5e16d6631ed64f1 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c2fe6e52cecaec21c5e16d6631ed64f1\"><\/div>\n<p>Blue cities such as San Francisco, for example, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/10\/california-court-greenlights-foreign-interference-in-san-franciscos-school-board-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">permit<\/a>&nbsp;some aliens &mdash; even those who are illegally present &mdash; to vote in school board races. In San Francisco, foreign nationals can even run elections: In February, the city&rsquo;s board of supervisors&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/20\/foreign-nationals-arent-just-voting-in-san-francisco-elections-theyre-running-them-too\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voted<\/a>&nbsp;unanimously to appoint Kelly Wong, a foreign national from Hong Kong, to the city&rsquo;s Elections Commission. The commission is a &ldquo;seven-member civilian body that oversees and creates policy for the city&rsquo;s Department of Elections,&rdquo; according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kqed.org\/news\/11976026\/san-francisco-appoints-first-non-citizen-to-serve-on-elections-commission\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">local media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their media acolytes&rsquo; best attempts to downplay these matters, Democrats such as Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin have publicly advocated for granting voting rights to foreign nationals.
