This decision emerged from a response to an appeal by the Republican National Committee\u200c (RNC), which contested\u2063 a lower court&#8217;s earlier ruling that allowed these ballots to be counted until November 8 due to delays in mailing. The Supreme Court&#8217;s ruling reinforces the state&#8217;s election integrity protocols by reaffirming that all ballots \u2063need to be postmarked and received by the specified deadline. (AP Photo\/Jeff Amy)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&ldquo;HUGE election integrity victory in Georgia,&rdquo; RNC Chairman Michael Whatley posted to X on Monday afternoon as he <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ChairmanWhatley\/status\/1853534896452444306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">applauded<\/a> the state Supreme Court&rsquo;s decision to reverse a lower court&rsquo;s order and maintain that all ballots must be postmarked and received by Tuesday, Nov. 5.<\/p>\n<p>Superior Court Senior Judge Robert E. Flournoy III <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.aclu.org\/live\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Cobb_Superior_24GC08111_Order-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">ordered<\/a> Cobb County last week to &ldquo;process received ballots by Affected Voters&rdquo; so long as their ballots were postmarked by 7 p.m. on Election Day, and that those ballots could be counted for the general election until 5 p.m. on Nov. 8.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Democrat-run Cobb County wanted to accept 3,000 absentee ballots AFTER the Election Day deadline.
