He firmly stated that he would not allow anyone to⁢ use his image and expressed confidence that Marvel and Disney would respect his wishes while acknowledging the possibility of future executives not adhering to his stance. The 59-year-old actor, best known for his role as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently surprised many by stating that no one would be permitted to use his likeness or image through AI—even after his death. During an appearance on the “On with Kara Swisher” podcast on October 21, he discussed various topics, including the implications of artificial intelligence for actors. Downey shared that he has mixed feelings about AI’s potential impact but feels secure regarding Marvel and Disney’s treatment of his character since a small group makes key decisions there. However, when prompted about future executives possibly exploiting his image, he humorously mentioned planning to sue them posthumously while assuring that his law firm would remain active even after he’s gone. Although not among the top celebrities associated with AI scams according to a recent report—where Scarlett Johansson topped the list—Downey has addressed such issues on social media.
