While\u200d there were increases in employment in\u200b healthcare and government\u200d sectors, \u2064notable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/labor-unions-lash-out-over-job-killing-energy-policies\/\" title=\"Labor unions lash out over job killing energy policies\">job losses<\/a> occurred in \u200dthe help services sector and manufacturing, largely attributed to strike actions. Additionally,\u2064 jobs reports for August\u2062 and September were revised downward, reflecting a total reduction of 112,000 \u2062jobs combined.<\/p>\n<p>This downturn in\u200d job\u200d growth presents a challenge for Kamala \u2064Harris, who has \u2064struggled to establish her identity as the Democratic nominee while aligning herself with\u200d President Biden\u2019s economic policies, termed &#8220;Bidenomics.&#8221; \u2064Harris has publicly expressed pride in the administration&#8217;s initiatives, despite growing criticism of rising prices and living costs \u200csince Biden took office. The nation&rsquo;s unemployment rate remained &ldquo;essentially unchanged&rdquo; at 4.1 percent. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f2483dcaa325c92bba8afb6dd2bd39f9 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-f2483dcaa325c92bba8afb6dd2bd39f9\"><\/div>\n<p>The agency detailed how &ldquo;[e]mployment continued to trend up in health care and government&rdquo; sectors, while job losses were reported in the &ldquo;help services&rdquo; sector. The manufacturing industry also experienced a decline in job numbers, which BLS attributed to &ldquo;strike activity.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/economy\/us-jobs-report-october-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox Business<\/a>, the 12,000 total is &ldquo;well below the 113,000 gain that was predicted by LSEG economists and the lowest tally since December 2020.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Equally notable, however, is the agency&rsquo;s revelation that the total number of nonfarm payroll jobs for August and September were less than originally reported. According to BLS, August&rsquo;s total &ldquo;was revised down by 81,000, from +159,000 to +78,000, and the change for September was revised down by 31,000, from +254,000 to +223,000.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;With these revisions, employment in August and September combined is 112,000 lower<br \/>[nonfarm payroll jobs]  than previously reported,&rdquo; the agency concluded. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ed6e9780ec454b86fdf81a477fdff73a fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ed6e9780ec454b86fdf81a477fdff73a\"><\/div>\n<p>The Biden-Harris administration&rsquo;s downward revision of job totals is not a new phenomenon. Results from an annual analysis by BLS published in August <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/21\/oops-biden-admin-admits-800000-jobs-it-took-credit-for-dont-exist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a> that the U.S. economy added 818,000 fewer jobs from March 2023 to March 2024 than originally reported. <\/p>\n<p>October&rsquo;s jobs numbers present an increasing problem for Kamala Harris ahead of Tuesday&rsquo;s presidential election. Since becoming the Democrat nominee, the vice president has <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/23\/kamala-harris-keeps-reminding-voters-shes-joe-biden-2-0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">failed<\/a> to differentiate herself from President Joe Biden and the policies enacted under their administration, and she has regularly touted the party&rsquo;s &ldquo;Bidenomics&rdquo; economic agenda.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking with CNN&rsquo;s Dana Bash in August, for example, Harris <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/29\/kamala-harris-hails-disastrous-bidenomics-policies-im-very-proud-of-the-work-that-we-have-done\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">declared<\/a> that she was &ldquo;very proud&rdquo; of the administration&rsquo;s policies driving the country&rsquo;s economic crisis. The comments came the same month The Federalist&rsquo;s Jordan Boyd <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/14\/media-claim-inflation-slowing-even-though-prices-have-only-skyrocketed-under-biden-harris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> that &ldquo;[b]asic goods and services&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/bidens-big-inflation-problem-prices-are-now-up-nearly-20-since-he-took-office-080049551.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cost at least 20 percent more now<\/a>&nbsp;than they did when [Joe] Biden and Harris first entered the White House.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s worth noting that, contrary to Biden&rsquo;s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/09\/19\/heres-the-full-list-of-every-lie-joe-biden-has-told-as-president-part-four\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repeated claims<\/a>, many of the jobs &ldquo;created&rdquo; under his and Harris&rsquo; tenure are not new jobs, but those recovered following the Covid lockdowns.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-33eea463abfdbac82eaa1cedf0395385 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-33eea463abfdbac82eaa1cedf0395385\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5d0590c749b301ec6f643dd6d1eb8739 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-5d0590c749b301ec6f643dd6d1eb8739\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Shawn Fleetwood is a staff writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
