In Scarborough, Maine, some voters had to vote\u200c in \u200dperson due to non-arrival\u200c of their ballots, raising concerns about the reliability of USPS services. Reports indicate that ballots \u200dwere also \u2062undelivered in\u200c Coos\u2063 County, Oregon, and Whitman County, Washington. In Whitman, approximately 300 ballots went missing\u2063 after being delivered to the post office.<\/p>\n<p>In Bend, Oregon, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">residents faced similar challenges<\/a>, leading local \u2064officials to advise against mailing \u200bback absentee \u2062ballots too close to\u200c the election date. Concerns \u2063over the reliability of mail-in voting were echoed by \u2064officials; for example, a\u200d tray of absentee ballots went missing in Grand Rapids, Michigan, prompting an internal \u200cinvestigation by \u2064USPS.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-campaign-hack-highlights-iranian-threat-to-us-elections-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Trump campaign hack highlights Iranian threat to US elections - Washington Examiner\">situation raises alarm<\/a>, especially as instances of\u2063 mail delivery failures\u200d have persisted since the June primary elections, affecting voter participation and\u200d confidence \u2064in the\u200b mail-in voting process. these issues highlight the ongoing challenges facing voters\u200d who rely on mail-in \u2064ballots, with officials urging caution and alternative methods to ensure their votes are counted.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The United States Postal Service (USPS) <a href=\"https:\/\/about.usps.com\/newsroom\/national-releases\/2024\/1028-us-postal-service-is-ready-to-deliver-the-nations-election-mail.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> Monday they expect their &ldquo;Election Mail performance in 2024 to be equal to or better than 2020.&rdquo; But that doesn&rsquo;t suffice when an election will be decided on the margins and numerous voters across the country are reporting that they never received the mail-in ballots that they requested.<\/p>\n<p>In Scarborough, Maine, one voter told <a href=\"https:\/\/fox23maine.com\/amp\/newsletter-daily\/some-mainers-say-they-never-received-requested-mail-in-ballots-election-voting-early-republicans-democrats-president-kamala-harris-donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WGME<\/a> that she voted in person on Monday because the mail in ballot she previously requested never arrived. It&rsquo;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/flashback-bill-clinton-jimmy-carter-allegedly-lost-the-nuclear-codes\/\" title=\"Flashback: Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter Allegedly Lost The Nuclear Codes\">similar story told<\/a> by fellow Scarborough voter Glenn Grant, who reportedly wanted to vote by mail.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;But the ballot has never come, which says something about our mail service,&rdquo; Grant told WGME. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile USPS &ldquo;failed to deliver an unknown number of ballots in Coos County, Oregon, and it didn&rsquo;t deliver up to 300 ballots in Whitman County, Washington,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/washington-oregon-ballots-not-delivered-e93f8b208aa0984222c1ea8368dd1898\">The Associated Press<\/a> reported, citing election officials. Coos County Clerk Julie Brecke said her office has received nonstop calls due to ballots not arriving &ldquo;as a result of an error at USPS,&rdquo; according to The AP.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile Whitman County said that a third-party vendor delivered roughly 24,000 ballots to the post office on Oct. 16 where they were all marked. But roughly 300 ballots are still missing.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t know where they went after that,&rdquo; Whitman County Auditor Sandy Jamison said, according to The Associated Press. <\/p>\n<p>In Bend, Oregon, the USPS claimed it has finally caught up with mail deliveries after several residents reported having not received their Nov. 5 election ballots, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centraloregondaily.com\/news\/local\/bend-mail-delivery-ballots-delay\/article_ef602ed4-8fea-11ef-84c1-475f8e65dac5.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Central Oregon Daily News<\/a>. Meanwhile, Deschutes County Clerk Steve Dennison recently warned that there was risk in waiting to send back an absentee ballot via the mail.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I just can&rsquo;t imagine a scenario, at least for myself, where I as a voter would take that ballot and put it into a mailbox, rather than putting it into a drop box,&rdquo; Dennison said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opb.org\/article\/2024\/10\/30\/still-havent-voted-in-central-oregon-dont-count-on-a-mailbox-election-official-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OPB<\/a>. &ldquo;The longer you wait up until Election Day, the more risk you run that it may not [count].&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Deschutes County Republican Commissioner Patti Adair told The Federalist: &ldquo;I wish we voted in person with ID, but for folks voting by mail, lags in the process creates apprehension.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>There was also a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/16\/michigans-second-largest-city-lost-an-entire-tray-of-mail-ballots-and-still-has-no-clue-where-they-went\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">incident in Grand Rapids, Michigan<\/a>, where an entire tray of absentee ballots were lost.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Voters were calling, saying, &lsquo;Hey, we didn&rsquo;t receive our ballots,&rdquo; City Clerk Joel Hondorp told The Federalist. &ldquo;There&rsquo;s a tray of ballots that were set to be mailed out. Looks like it may have got to the post office, we&rsquo;re trying to figure out where the disconnect is.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Hondorp says a tray holds approximately 300 ballots. He said his office was working with USPS to investigate the missing tray. Replacement ballots were sent to 100 voters who did not receive their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/these-people-were-vicious-i-saw-all-kinds-of-illegal-behavior-michigan-election-witness-who-saw-4-am-illegal-ballot-drop-for-biden-speaks-out-video\/\" title=\"&quot;These People Were Vicious - I Saw All Kinds of Illegal Behavior&quot; - Michigan Election Witness Who Saw 4 AM Illegal Ballot Drop for Biden Speaks Out (VIDEO)\">requested absentee ballot<\/a>. <\/p>\n[[<strong>READ NEXT: <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/28\/postal-service-axes-plan-to-reroute-nevada-absentee-ballots-other-mail-to-california-for-processing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Postal Service Axes Plan To Reroute Nevada Absentee Ballots, Other Mail To California For Processing<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But it&rsquo;s not just the general election seeing issues with USPS. <\/p>\n<p>During the June primary in <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/11\/utah-voters-say-their-votes-were-tossed-after-usps-routed-ballots-to-vegas\/?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=daily_election_briefing_198_democrats_vote_against_bill_to_keep_foreign_nationals_out_of_american_elections&amp;utm_term=2024-07-11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Utah<\/a>, hundreds of voters said their votes were not counted because USPS failed to postmark their ballots by the specified date. One voter, Camille Topham, <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.md\/MMplr#selection-1511.0-1511.14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> she and her family dropped their ballots into a post box on June 23, the day before voters are required to have their ballots postmarked in order to be counted. But like hundreds of other Utah voters, she said she was later informed her vote wouldn&rsquo;t count since it was missing the required postmark. The postmark was missing due to USPS processing.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uspsoig.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/reports\/2024-08\/24-016-r24.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">July audit<\/a> of the primary elections by the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/16\/majority-of-postal-facilities-audited-by-inspector-general-failed-to-follow-election-mail-procedures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">USPS Office of the Inspector General<\/a> found that facilities nationwide failed to follow Election Mail procedures and that &ldquo;opportunities exist for the Postal Service to improve readiness for timely processing and delivery of Election and Political Mail for the 2024 general election.&rdquo; One issue found was that &ldquo;over half of the delivery units and processing facilities&hellip;visited were not properly&rdquo; following USPS guidance on election related mail.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Without full compliance, implementation, and a clear understanding of the Election and Political Mail policies and procedures there is a risk of improper handling, untimely processing, and late delivery of Election and Political Mail,&rdquo; the audit found. <\/p>\n<p>The audit further found that &ldquo;operational risks&rdquo; could &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-usps-facilities-failed-to-follow-election-mail-procedures\/\" title=\"Report: USPS Facilities Failed to Follow Election Mail Procedures\">delay timely processing<\/a> and delivery of Election Mail.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><em>For more election news and updates, visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/electionbriefing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">electionbriefing.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Brianna Lyman is an elections correspondent at The Federalist.
