This ruling comes as a result of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">concerns surrounding voter registration inaccuracies<\/a>, particularly impacting individuals who had obtained driver\u2019s licenses before October 1996 while\u2062 registering to vote after \u2063February 2004. The deadline for the\u2062 release \u2063of this voter list is set for November 4, \u200bjust \u200cbefore in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-looking-to-flip-two-new-jersey-congressional-seats-in-november\/\" title=\"Republicans Looking to Flip Two New Jersey Congressional Seats in November\">-person voting begins<\/a>. The order followed a public records request from the Strong Communities Foundation of Arizona, \u2063although Fontes had initially claimed\u2063 that providing a complete \u2064list was \u2064difficult due to concerns over accuracy and voter safety. Franklin)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>State officials had identified a significant problem in Arizona&rsquo;s voter record-keeping earlier that affects individuals who obtained their driver&rsquo;s licenses before October 1996 and registered to vote after February 2004.<\/p>\n<p>More than 218,000 registrants in the state&rsquo;s database were classified as having full ballot access without confirmation they are citizens, a move that alarmed election integrity advocates and spawned an immediate lawsuit. The ruling on Thursday delivers only 98,000 names because Fontes&rsquo;s office contends it does not yet possess a complete list.<\/p>\n<p>The Strong Communities Foundation of Arizona filed a public records request last month, seeking a complete list of the impacted voters. However, Fontes stated that fulfilling the request before Election Day would be impossible due to concerns about the accuracy of the list and the safety of the voters involved.<\/p>\n<p>In his <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/25261042\/cv2024-027778-strong-communities-foundation-v-adrian-fontes-sos.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">13-page ruling<\/a>, Judge Scott Blaney determined that Fontes failed to demonstrate that disclosing the records would infringe on privacy rights or confidentiality. The judge also mandated the release of any datasets or communications related to the affected voters.<\/p>\n<p>The court instructed the Strong Communities Foundation not to contact any individuals on the list or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-slew-of-college-students-private-info-shared-with-third-parties-for-political-research\/\" title=\"College students&#039; private information shared with third parties for political research in an exclusive revelation.\">share personally identifiable information<\/a> with third parties until after November 6.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Prior to November 6, 2024, Plaintiff and its staff, members, volunteers, and affiliates may not knowingly canvass or contact any Affected Voter,&rdquo; Blaney ordered.<\/p>\n<p>Fontes&rsquo;s office is reviewing the ruling and is weighing appeal options, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/yvonnewingett\/status\/1852092473356505538\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">according<\/a> to the <em>Washington Post<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>America First Legal, which sued on behalf of the Strong Communities Foundation, lauded the decision after the &ldquo;lack of transparency from our state&rsquo;s election officials.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;When Secretary Fontes discovered the glitch that allowed 218,000 individuals to register without providing proof of citizenship, he should have immediately shared the list of affected individuals with Arizona&rsquo;s county recorders, who are in charge of verifying the citizenship of voters.
