If the report is true, it means Comey was using the apparatus of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dhs-leadership-stands-up-for-female-law-enforcement-agents-following-criticism-of-secret-service\/\" title=\"DHS leadership stands up for female law enforcement agents following criticism of Secret Service\">federal government &#038;mdash<\/a>; paid for by American taxpayers &mdash; to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/poll-finds-majority-americans-believe-fbi-officials-prosecuted-promoting-false-trump-russia-claims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">target a political figure<\/a> without even the fig leaf of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/at-least-two-of-hunter-bidens-ex-lovers-have-testified-before-federal-grand-jury-looking-into-his-tax-affairs\/\" title=\"At Least Two of Hunter Biden\u2019s Ex-Lovers Have Testified Before Federal Grand Jury Looking Into His Tax Affairs\">potential criminal activity<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trump announced his campaign for the presidency in June 2015. The FBI&rsquo;s &ldquo;Crossfire Hurricane&rdquo; investigation of Trump and &ldquo;Russian collusion&rdquo; did not begin until almost a year later.<\/p>\n<p>Comey himself was fired by Trump in May of 2017. He became an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/james-comey-comes-support-joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">outspoken political critic<\/a> of Trump.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Crossfire Hurricane&rdquo; was itself a washout. After the investigation generated years of establishment media coverage that created distractions damaging to the Trump presidency, and at a cost tens of millions of dollars in taxpayer money, a report by special counsel Robert Mueller <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/doj-finally-releases-2019-memo-absolving-trump-everything-documented-mueller-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found no basis<\/a> for the &ldquo;Russian collusion&rdquo; charges.<\/p>\n<p>So the whistleblower&rsquo;s allegation &mdash; if it&rsquo;s true &mdash; means that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ted-cruz-scorches-comey-hearing-deliberately-corrupt-woefully-incompetent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Comey himself<\/a> had set his sights on Trump long before he was the Republican nominee for the 2016 presidential race.
