a joint statement from the offices of Benson and Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A Chinese foreign exchange student has been charged with multiple crimes for illegally voting in Michigan on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Despite not being a citizen, his ballot is going to count because &ldquo;there is no way for election officials to retrieve it.&rdquo; City Leaders Negotiating With Group As Police Refuse To Intervene\">city council members<\/a> that the student has a green card.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">&ldquo;Through a series of actions, the student was apparently able to register, receive a ballot and cast a vote,&rdquo; Dohoney wrote. &ldquo;Based upon the scenario that we&rsquo;re hearing this morning, the student was fully aware of what he was doing, and that it was not legal.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/10\/30\/politics\/michigan-chinese-citizen-charged-after-illegally-voting\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> reported that its sources said investigators are trying to learn if this was part of a wider effort by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-china-ignores-biden-harris-administration-engages-massive-military-exercise-sensitive-region\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">China<\/a> to interfere in the election or an isolated incident.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said her office has launched an &ldquo;independent, parallel investigation,&rdquo; along with the criminal one.<\/p>\n<p>Washtenaw County Clerk Lawrence Kestenbaum said whoever the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-biden-harris-doj-lawsuit-blocks-alabama-purging-noncitizens-voter-rolls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">illegal voter<\/a> voted for will get those votes because with in-person voting, there is no way to go back into the system to know which vote was illegal.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There&rsquo;s a box of ballots underneath the tabulator and all of the ballots &mdash;
