The investigation revealed that the child \u200bhad over 50 rat bites, with some wounds so severe that they exposed bones. Emergency responders \u2064found the baby on September 13, 2023, and he was immediately rushed to the hospital, where\u2064 he was treated \u200dfor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/multiple-injuries-reported-after-driver-speeds-through-crowd-of-protesters-in-new-york\/\" title=\"Multiple Injuries Reported After Driver Speeds Through Crowd of Protesters in New York\">life-threatening injuries<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">requiring \u200dmultiple blood \u200dtransfusions<\/a> and \u2062amputations \u200dof several fingers.<\/p>\n<p>The home conditions were horrendous, with evidence of neglect including trash, half-eaten food, and rat feces. The bassinet was found stained with blood. Angel&#8217;s husband, David\u200c Schonabaum, was also charged with child neglect and sentenced to 16 years in prison for his role in the incident. He was eventually airlifted to another hospital for specialized treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Several of the boy&rsquo;s fingers had to be amputated, and he required multiple blood transfusions over the course of his emergency treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives investigating the home found a scene of horror.<\/p>\n<p>In the bedroom, where the baby&rsquo;s bassinet stood just feet away from the Schonabaums&rsquo; bed, investigators found trash and half-eaten food. Detectives also observed rat feces across the clutter.<\/p>\n<p>The inside of the bassinet was covered in blood, as was a pillow and blanket apparently used by the child.<\/p>\n<p>A diaper disposal in the room was found &ldquo;smeared&rdquo; with blood that apparently also showed rats crossing the gruesome stain.<\/p>\n<p>Both parents allege they did not hear the child cry, and David Schonabaum said he only noticed the boy&rsquo;s injuries after the profuse bleeding began.<\/p>\n<p>David Schonabaum was convicted of child neglect against the six-month-old and two other children present in the home on September 11 of this year and sentenced to 16 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Under a sentencing agreement, Angel Schonabaum was given four years of probation.
