If it&rsquo;s in our area, we&rsquo;re going to &lsquo;D&rsquo; up.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Someone defends, someone knocks the ball. We talk about it. We&rsquo;re willing to do this.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Unbelievably, Betts was willing to let the incident slide. The result of the game &mdash; a Yankees win that prevented a Dodgers sweep of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/francine-pascal-1932-2024-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Francine Pascal, 1932-2024 - Washington Examiner\">series &#038;mdash<\/a>; seemed to matter more to him than the first-inning play.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;When it comes to the person in play, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/despite-insistence-by-democrat-politicians-and-medical-elites-empirical-evidence-does-not-conclusively-show-that-masks-reduce-the-spread-of-covid\/\" title=\"Despite Insistence by Democrat Politicians and Medical Elites, Empirical Evidence DOES NOT Conclusively Show that Masks Reduce the Spread of COVID\">doesn&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t matter,&rdquo; Betts said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We lost. It&rsquo;s irrelevant. I&rsquo;m fine. He&rsquo;s fine. Everything&rsquo;s cool. We lost the game, and that&rsquo;s what I&rsquo;m kind of focused on. We got to turn the page and get ready for tomorrow.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Other Dodgers weren&rsquo;t as complacent.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve never seen anything like it,&rdquo; rookie pitcher Ben Casparius said, according to ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It&rsquo;s pretty interesting. It was obviously very early in the game, so I think it kind of set the tone.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>As ESPN noted, the play was reminiscent of another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/controversial-moments-sports-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">controversial sports moment<\/a>: Game 1 of the Yankees-Orioles American League Championship Series in 1996 when a preteen Yankees fan caught a fly ball from the stands just before Orioles right field Tony Tarasco caught it.<\/p>\n<p>Without an <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">official instant-replay review system<\/a> in place at the time, the ball hit by Yankee Derek Jeter was ruled a home run.<\/p>\n<p>The Yankees won that game 5-4 and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/postseason\/1996_ALCS.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ALCS<\/a> before going on to defeat the Atlanta Braves in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/postseason\/1996_WS.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World Series<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It might be obvious that the men in Tuesday&rsquo;s play went way too far &mdash; and the fan interference call was eminently justified for the brazen action (people have been ejected from Yankee Stadium <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-supporter-handcuffed-kicked-yankee-stadium-displaying-trump-won-banner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">for less<\/a>).
