But registrars in Alameda County, California, have approved dozens of voter registrations from &ldquo;self<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">-confessed foreign nationals&#038;rdquo<\/a>; &mdash; some of which tried to vote &mdash; according to records obtained by the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF).<\/p>\n<p>Alameda County disclosed in a dataset provided to <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Alameda-Noncitizen-Report-2024-FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PILF<\/a> that there were at least 54 noncitizens who had been on the voter rolls, with at least one voter having been on the rolls for 14 years, though the &ldquo;average time&rdquo; on the voter roll was four years. The earliest known illegal registration began in 2004, according to PILF. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-11d0070f2de104ca61400e0a141989aa fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-11d0070f2de104ca61400e0a141989aa\"><\/div>\n<p>One individual, identified by his first name &ldquo;Gang,&rdquo; listed his place of birth as China and indicated foreign citizenship, according to PILF. He had his registration canceled in June of 2023 1 three years after his initial registration.<\/p>\n<p>Another ineligible individual, known by his first name Shahid, was registered for at least two years but &ldquo;revealed&rdquo; his ineligibility when, in 2016, he sought a provisional ballot after his &ldquo;original mail ballot was lost,&rdquo; according to PILF. The ineligible voter had his voter registration canceled in 2018 after he &ldquo;came to the office with documentation&rdquo; that confirmed he was a noncitizen, according to PILF. <\/p>\n<p>Notably, at least 12 noncitizens attempted to register to vote while admitting their non-citizen status but had their applications rejected.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Why some admissions of ineligibility were noticed and others were not is unclear,&rdquo; PILF&rsquo;s report stated. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ac5204704639e472e079b8afab8a03f4 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ac5204704639e472e079b8afab8a03f4\"><\/div>\n<p>PILF President J. Christian Adams said in a statement that the records prove &ldquo;incompetence&rdquo; of election officials. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;States should enact safeguards against noncitizens registering and voting,&rdquo; Adams said. &ldquo;These records show incompetence by election officials. When someone admits they are not a U.S. citizen, they should never be registered to vote. California has the resources and data to better verify citizenship in voter registration if only Governor Newsom had a willingness to act.&rdquo; <\/p>\n[[<strong>READ NEXT: <a href=\"http:\/\/thefederalist.com\/More%20Than%20300%20Registrants%20Confirm%20They%20Shouldn\" t be on nevada voter rolls target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Report: More Than 300 Registrants Confirm They Shouldn&rsquo;t Be On Nevada&rsquo;s Voter Rolls<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The records were obtained after <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/N.D.-Cal.-24-cv-00679-dckt-000007_001-filed-2024-02-12-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PILF sued<\/a> Alameda County for allegedly violating the National Voter Registration Act&rsquo;s (NVRA) disclosure provision. According to the suit, PILF uses multiple types of records to check whether state and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/group-our-vote-matters-is-suing-facebook-dominion-mark-zuckerberg-certain-state-officials-others-for-infringing-upon-right-to-vote-assemble-and-speak-freely-you-can-jo\/\" title=\"Group \u201cOur Vote Matters\u201d Is Suing Facebook, Dominion, Mark Zuckerberg, Certain State Officials, Others for Infringing Upon Right to Vote, Assemble and Speak Freely \u2013 You Can Join Too\">local election officials<\/a> are taking appropriate steps to keep <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/court-affirms-arizonas-need-to-keep-noncitizens-off-voter-rolls-but-makes-it-harder-to-do-so\/\" title=\"Court upholds Arizona&#039;s voter roll restrictions for noncitizens, but raises barriers\">voter rolls free<\/a> from noncitizens. But the county allegedly would not provide the requested records that fell under the NVRA&rsquo;s disclosure provision. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d25d2c7d0868748370bffaeecb4593bf fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-d25d2c7d0868748370bffaeecb4593bf\"><\/div>\n<p>But it&rsquo;s not just Alameda County registrars letting noncitizens onto the voter rolls. Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/24\/iowa-identified-87-self-reported-noncitizens-who-have-already-cast-ballots-in-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recently announced<\/a> that his office found 87 self-reported noncitizens on their voter rolls <em>after<\/em> they cast a ballot in elections. The audit also revealed 67 self-reported noncitizens who were registered to vote but had not cast a ballot in elections.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia similarly <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/25\/biden-judge-orders-virginia-to-put-more-than-1500-self-identified-noncitizens-back-on-the-voter-rolls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tried to remov<\/a>e more than 1,500 individuals from the voter rolls who, according to Gov. Glenn Youngkin, &ldquo;self-identified&rdquo; as noncitizens. The Biden-Harris Department of Justice sued the state and a Democratic judge recently ruled the state must put the more than alleged &ldquo;self-identified&rdquo; noncitizens back on the voter rolls.
