The ballot was sent from the District of Columbia Board of Elections and was meant for a woman Norton claims has no connection to his\u2064 home. Norton, who has lived at his\u2064 address for years, suggested that the mailer could be a database error or\u2064 possibly a\u2064 politically motivated act\u200c targeting him, especially since he has advised on integrity\u200c concerns in past elections.\u200c He expressed concern over how such\u2064 a\u200d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/montana-county-declares-wrong-winner-after-overcounting-votes\/\" title=\"Montana County Declares Wrong Winner After Overcounting Votes\">significant voting error<\/a> could occur. The D.C. Board\u2064 of\u200d Elections did not respond to inquiries, and despite efforts to reach the individual the ballot was \u2063addressed to, no contact could be established. The Board has a history of mailing ballots\u2064 universally to registered voters, \u200cand it is part of a national program aimed\u2064 at maintaining \u2062voter registration records.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/hillsdale-college\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hillsdale College<\/a> vice president found an absentee ballot in his Michigan mailbox. But it came from Washington, D.C. &mdash; and was addressed to someone who likely never lived there.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We have no reason to believe anyone with that name ever lived at this location,&rdquo; said Robert Norton, Hillsdale&rsquo;s vice president and legal counsel, to The Federalist.<\/p>\n<p>Norton found the absentee ballot in the mailbox of his home in rural Jonesville, Mich. It came from the District of Columbia Board of Elections, and was addressed to a woman Norton says never lived there. The mailer, obtained by The Federalist, contained a blank ballot, instructions, a secrecy sleeve, and a pre-paid return envelope.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure>\n<figure><figcaption><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Norton said he has never been a D.C. resident. He has lived at his house for years, and the previous resident owned the house for decades.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There&rsquo;s no possible, &lsquo;Oops, I lived there for a while and sold the house,&rsquo;&rdquo; Norton said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While Norton said he has &ldquo;no idea&rdquo; why the board of elections would send him a mail-in ballot addressed to someone else, he suggested it could be an error in a voting database.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;But that is not nothing,&rdquo; Norton said. &ldquo;Obviously one got away, and many others can get away.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Norton also suggested the mailer could have been political bait. Left-wing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/01\/08\/magazine\/hillsdale-2020-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">media<\/a> and officials have targeted Norton for advising those with integrity concerns after the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Did somebody with access to it send me a ballot, seeing if I would take the bait and I would send it in?&rdquo; Norton asked. &ldquo;That&rsquo;s a very unusual address to just accidentally have something go to.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Federalist reached out to the D.C. Board of Elections, but a spokeswoman did not respond with comment in time for publication. The Federalist also attempted to call the voter to whom the ballot was addressed, but had no success. Several phone numbers listed online for the individual were disconnected.<\/p>\n<p>The D.C. Board of Elections <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/08\/11\/us\/politics\/vote-by-mail-us-states.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mailed<\/a> ballots to all district residents in 2020, and the district made automatic mail-in voting <a href=\"https:\/\/lims.dccouncil.gov\/Legislation\/B24-0507\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">permanent<\/a> in 2023. According to the board&rsquo;s website, it <a href=\"https:\/\/dcboe.org\/voters\/casting-your-vote\/mail-ballot-request\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">automatically<\/a> mails ballots to &ldquo;all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-approves-mail-in-ballots-for-2021-election\/\" title=\"California Approves Mail-In Ballots For 2021 Election\">active registered voters<\/a>,&rdquo; but those away from the district can request a ballot.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The board is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lgbtmap.org\/democracy-maps\/membership_in_electronic_registration_information_center_eric\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">member<\/a> of the Electronic Registration Information Center, a national database that supposedly cleans dead and duplicate voters from the rolls. ERIC was founded by David Becker, director of the Center for Election Innovation and Research, which funneled millions in &ldquo;Zuckbucks&rdquo; from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to election officials in 2020. ERIC <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/01\/why-is-michigans-secretary-of-state-working-with-election-meddler-david-becker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shares<\/a> its data with CEIR for voter solicitations.<\/p>\n<p>The Public Interest Legal Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/press\/pilf-continues-to-break-down-erics-wall-of-secrecy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sued<\/a> the D.C. Board of Elections in 2021 for <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">withholding voter roll maintenance documents<\/a> regarding ERIC and &ldquo;potentially deceased registrants.&rdquo; In February, a judge <a href=\"https:\/\/publicinterestlegal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/32-Stipulated-Order.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ordered<\/a> the board to disclose the documents.<\/p>\n<p>The Government Accountability Institute released a report Oct. 16, naming mail-in ballots among the top <a href=\"https:\/\/thedrilldown.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/TOP-50-ELECTION-THREATS-IN-2024-GAI-REPORT.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">threats<\/a> to America&rsquo;s electoral process. It called mail-in voting a &ldquo;risk,&rdquo; and recommended eliminating the method in favor of in-person voting on election day.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Ballots can be lost in the mail or manipulated, and a secure chain of custody is impossible to guarantee,&rdquo; the report reads. &ldquo;&hellip;These are very difficult to verify, even when you require matching signature verification.
