This ruling \u200bfollowed a lawsuit from the Biden-Harris Department of Justice aimed at preventing Virginia from removing\u200b noncitizens and other ineligible registrants from its voter lists. Virginia&#8217;s \u200bRepublican Governor Glenn Youngkin criticized the decision, emphasizing that most of the individuals had previously confirmed their noncitizen status through immigration documents.<\/p>\n<p>The judge argued that Virginia&#8217;s \u2063removals were a systematic violation of the National \u2062Voter Registration Act, which requires timely updates to voter rolls. Youngkin and Virginia&#8217;s Attorney General\u200c Jason Miyares expressed outrage over the \u200bruling, accusing the Biden administration \u200dof using the legal system to target\u200d their\u200b political opponents. noncitizens back on the state&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/grenell-legal-action-plan-to-force-calif-election-boards-to-clean-up-their-voter-rolls\/\" title=\"Grenell: Legal action plan to force Calif. election boards to clean up their voter rolls\">voter rolls ahead<\/a> of the November contest.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Let&rsquo;s be clear about what just happened: only eleven days before a Presidential election, a federal judge ordered Virginia to reinstate over 1,500 individuals &mdash; who self-identified themselves as noncitizens &mdash; back onto the voter rolls,&rdquo; Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.virginia.gov\/newsroom\/news-releases\/2024\/october\/name-1035684-en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-eeb09ee6b38142f4af400ec744da81bb fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-eeb09ee6b38142f4af400ec744da81bb\"><\/div>\n<p>The order came in response to a request from the Biden-Harris Department of Justice (DOJ), which <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/14\/biden-harris-doj-sues-to-stop-virginia-from-taking-noncitizens-off-the-voter-rolls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sued<\/a> the commonwealth last week to prevent its elections department from removing noncitizens and other ineligible registrants from the voter rolls before Nov. 5. <\/p>\n<p>The highly politicized agency alleged such actions constitute violations of the 1993 National Voter Registration Act. That <a href=\"https:\/\/uscode.house.gov\/view.xhtml?path=\/prelim@title52\/subtitle2\/chapter205&amp;edition=prelim\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">law<\/a> requires states to complete &ldquo;not later than 90 days prior to the date of a primary or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/impossible-gop-picked-up-seats-in-house-picked-up-state-legislatures-picked-up-governorship-held-the-senate-but-sniffy-joe-won-not-a-chance\/\" title=\"IMPOSSIBLE: GOP Picked Up Seats in House, Picked Up State Legislatures, Picked Up Governorship, Held the Senate -- But Sniffy Joe Won?... NOT A CHANCE\">general election<\/a> for Federal office, any program the purpose of which is to systematically remove the names of ineligible voters from the official lists of eligible voters.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/us-judge-orders-virginia-restore-voters-removed-from-rolls-restoring-access-thousands\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox News<\/a>, Judge Patricia Giles, a Biden appointee, &ldquo;issued a preliminary injunction &hellip; to reinstate all [individuals] that had been removed from state voter rolls in the state in the last 90 days, finding that the removals had been in fact &lsquo;systematic,&rsquo; not individualized.&rdquo; Using this logic, she reportedly argued the state violated federal law. <\/p>\n<p>Youngkin contended that nearly all the 1,500-plus &ldquo;self-identified&rdquo; foreign nationals removed from the rolls &ldquo;had previously presented immigration documents confirming their noncitizen status, a fact recently verified by federal authorities.&rdquo; The GOP governor further noted that the law the state used to remove these individuals from the registration lists was signed into law by then-Gov. Tim Kaine, a Democrat who is now a U.S. Senator.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0fa1621d4e9935e71b95fe4c3e6734d9 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-0fa1621d4e9935e71b95fe4c3e6734d9\"><\/div>\n<p>Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares expressed similar outrage at Giles&rsquo; decision in a Friday statement. The commonwealth&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">chief law enforcement officer specifically noted<\/a> his concern about &ldquo;the open practice by the Biden-Harris administration to weaponize the legal system against the enemies of so-called progress.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;That is the definition of lawfare.
