While Routh is facing two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-impeachment-inquiry-latest-front-in-fight-for-reelection\/\" title=\"Biden impeachment inquiry becomes new battleground for reelection.\">federal firearm charges<\/a> over the matter, Moody said on Fox News&rsquo;s <em>Fox and Friends <\/em>on Thursday that the DOJ is interfering with the state&rsquo;s investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;But at every turn, as we have moved forward with our investigation, [the Justice Department has] attempted to frustrate that, and, in fact, it came down to them stating that they were suspending state jurisdiction, which would indefinitely put our investigation on hold,&rdquo; Moody said. &ldquo;We don&rsquo;t believe the law supports that, and so we have filed suit against the DOJ.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 640px; max-height: 360px; min-width: 320px; min-height: 180px; overflow: hidden;\">\n<div style=\"position: relative; width: 100%; padding-top: 56.25%;\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/share.grabien.com\/share.php?id=2659768&amp;userid=11311&amp;loginid=10455&amp;playercolor=%23000000&amp;playersize=auto&amp;code=a99e9d915481bdb0fccc21f9c1837a91\" style=\"position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; width: 100%; height: 100%; border: 0px;\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>While it was a Secret Service agent who spotted Routh and ran him off the golf course, he was arrested by Martin County Sheriff&rsquo;s officers. Moody said the state would additionally like to charge Routh with fleeing but cannot accomplish a thorough enough investigation to charge him.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;ve made contact, we&rsquo;ve had meetings, but, unfortunately, you know, Florida and I, as <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">attorney general<\/a>, are going to stand up for the sovereignty of this state and push back on what we believe is an overreach of federal power,&rdquo; Moody said.<\/p>\n<p>Routh&nbsp;has since pleaded not guilty to all charges, which include possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number and attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate.
