The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) noted \u2063that most \u2064of \u2062those ill had consumed Quarter Pounders and that ongoing \u2064investigations aim to identify \u200bthe contaminated ingredient. Preliminary findings suggest that slivered onions from a single supplier may be responsible. In response, McDonald\u2019s has temporarily \u2062stopped \u2064using\u200d fresh onions and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">quarter pound beef patties<\/a> in several states while the source \u2064of the outbreak \u2063is investigated. The CDC has \u200dprovided guidance that E. coli can cause severe gastrointestinal symptoms, and affected \u200dstates include \u2062Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Montana, and Oregon. While McDonald&#8217;s works to resolve the issue and hopes to restore Quarter Pounders soon, other menu\u2063 items \u200bremain available and unaffected.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><\/p>\n<section> <script>console.log(\"ad slot (AC1)\")<\/script><script>console.log(\"ad slot (IC1)\")<\/script><script>console.log(\"ad slot (IC2)\")<\/script><script>console.log(\"ad slot (IC3)\")<\/script><script>console.log(\"ad slot (IC4)\")<\/script><\/p>\n<p>A multi-state E. coli outbreak that has left one person dead has been traced to McDonald&rsquo;s Quarter Pounders.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Most sick people are reporting eating Quarter Pounder hamburgers from McDonald&rsquo;s and investigators are working quickly to confirm which food ingredient is contaminated,&rdquo; the federal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/ecoli\/outbreaks\/e-coli-O157.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a> said on its website.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;McDonald&rsquo;s has pulled ingredients for these burgers, and they won&rsquo;t be available for sale in some states,&rdquo; the CDC wrote.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;McDonald&rsquo;s stopped using fresh slivered onions and quarter pound beef patties in several states while the investigation is ongoing to identify the ingredient causing illness,&rdquo; the CDC added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">McDonald&rsquo;s Quarter Pounder E coli 0157:H7 outbreak<\/p>\n<p>49 cases in 10 states<br \/> 10 hospitalizations<br \/> 1 death <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/eeE3mKHVTf\">https:\/\/t.co\/eeE3mKHVTf<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KKiGzPyiEi\">pic.twitter.com\/KKiGzPyiEi<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Jake Scott, MD (@jakescottMD) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jakescottMD\/status\/1848833363651731892?\">October 22, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\"> \t\t\tif ( getCookie( \"ff_subbed\" ) ) { \t\t\t\tdocument.getElementById(\"stnvideo\").remove() \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Early information from FDA indicates onions may be a source of this outbreak,&rdquo; the CDC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/ecoli\/outbreaks\/investigation-update-e-coli-o157-2024.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">also wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>McDonald&rsquo;s doubled down on that in a Tuesday statement, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/amp\/rcna176665\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The chain said that &ldquo;initial findings from the investigation indicate that a subset of illnesses may be linked to slivered onions used in the Quarter Pounder and sourced by a single supplier that serves three distribution centers.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>One adult in Colorado <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/massive-recall-cheeseburgers-underway-customers-warned-not-consume-burgers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">died<\/a> as a result of the E.coli outbreak, the CDC reported.<\/p>\n<p>The CDC said most illnesses reported have been in Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>However the CDC said that overall, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/ecoli\/outbreaks\/where-people-got-sick-e-coli-o157-2024.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">49 people<\/a> in 10 states have been sickened.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Colorado, cases have been reported in Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Montana and Oregon.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/food\/outbreaks-foodborne-illness\/outbreak-investigation-e-coli-o157h7-mcdonalds-quarter-pounders-october-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Food and Drug Administration<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-dozens-hikers-became-trips-waterfalls-near-grand-canyon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">outlets<\/a> in &nbsp;Colorado, Kansas, Utah, Wyoming, and portions of Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, and Oklahoma are not currently serving Quarter Pounders.<\/p>\n<p>The FDA said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/e-coli-outbreak-detected-six-states-wendys-restaurants-identified-likely-source\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">E. coli<\/a> bacteria can cause &ldquo;severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and\/or vomiting.
