This federal law prohibits the use of official resources to \u200csupport partisan politics. Mills\u2063 specifically criticized Harris for attacking former President Donald Trump, stating her comments could be deemed inappropriate. During the press\u200c conference, Harris\u200b made remarks\u2063 about Trump&#8217;s desire for &#8220;unchecked power&#8221; \u200cin response to an article \u2062suggesting\u200c Trump admired\u2062 dictators. He wants unchecked power. The question, in 13 days, will be what do the American people want?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Harris held a short press conference from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/carson-points-out-that-every-democratic-plan-has-backfired-in-trumps-favor-as-seen-in-the-bible-2\/\" title=\"Carson points out that every Democratic plan has backfired in Trump&#039;s favor, as seen in the Bible\">vice president&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s residence, mainly reacting to reporting from the <em>Atlantic<\/em> that alleged Trump wished he had generals &ldquo;like Adolf Hitler had,&rdquo; among other details.<\/p>\n<p>While the Hatch Act protects the president or vice president from violations of civil provisions, Mills said it doesn&rsquo;t apply to criminal provisions.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In Federal law it is a crime for any federal officer or employee to &lsquo;use his official authority for the purpose of interfering with, or affecting, the nomination or the election of any candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives,&#8217;&rdquo; the letter said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Recognizing this concern and as Attorney General, you issued a strict prohibition to your<br \/>political appointees from participating in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-refuses-to-comment-on-jamaal-bowman-pulling-fire-alarm\/\" title=\"White House silent on Jamaal Bowman&#039;s fire alarm incident.\">campaign-related activities<\/a> in any capacity,&rdquo; Mills wrote to Garland. &ldquo;As Attorney General you answer to the President, but your oath is to the Constitution and the laws of the United States. I ask that you investigate today&rsquo;s question-less &lsquo;press conference&rsquo; as it appears to be a direct use of official authority to affect the upcoming election. Given the proximity to the election, the American people deserve timely answers.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Election Day is less than two weeks away.
