MSNBC&rsquo;s <em>Morning Joe<\/em> invited the ABC late-night host onto its program to take shots at the Republican presidential nominee.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;m an optimistic person. I&rsquo;m not hysterical. I laugh when people say, &lsquo;Oh, you&rsquo;ve got Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-target-gop-rep-marjorie-taylor-greene\/\" title=\"Democrats target GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene\">derangement syndrome<\/a>.&rsquo; If you&rsquo;re a reasonable person, you should have Trump derangement syndrome,&rdquo; Kimmel said. &ldquo;And by the way, I think he has derangement syndrome about us, too. The judge in that case will not sentence Trump until after Nov. 5.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think what we&rsquo;re forgetting &mdash; I keep forgetting it, and I have to keep reminding myself &mdash; he&rsquo;s not just running for president, he&rsquo;s running to stay out of prison, and that&rsquo;s a pretty powerful thing,&rdquo; Kimmel said. &ldquo;He is literally running for his freedom.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>There was a correlation between the former president&rsquo;s&nbsp;indictments&nbsp;and his performance in the polls. Before Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg indicted&nbsp;Trump,&nbsp;the former president&rsquo;s then-opponent, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), stood a chance in the Republican primary election with 15 points between them.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, ever since the&nbsp;indictment&nbsp;was brought down in April of last year,&nbsp;Trump&rsquo;s lead increased until he was named the Republican presidential nominee. Even after he was convicted in May, Trump reported a dramatic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3033623\/donald-trump-receives-warm-welcome-during-california-fundraisers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>increase in fundraising<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kimmel is the latest celebrity to ramp up the anti-Trump rhetoric.
