Colin Allred (D-TX) is neck and neck, according to a new poll, as former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Donald Trump\">Donald Trump<\/a> and Vice President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kamala-harris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Kamala Harris\">Kamala Harris<\/a> come to town.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/emersoncollegepolling.com\/october-2024-texas-poll-trump-53-harris-46\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"poll\">poll<\/a> from the <em>Hill<\/em>-Emerson College shows Cruz leading Allred, 48%-47%, with less than two weeks before Election Day. The survey is the closest margin between the two in recent weeks, with a University of Texas <a href=\"https:\/\/texaspolitics.utexas.edu\/sites\/texaspolitics.utexas.edu\/files\/202410_poll_topline.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"poll\">poll<\/a> from earlier this month showing Cruz with a 7-point lead and a <em>New York Times<\/em>-Siena College <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/10\/13\/us\/elections\/times-siena-poll-texas-crosstabs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"poll\">poll<\/a> showing Cruz with a 4-point lead over Allred.<\/p>\n<p>The poll released Wednesday also shows Trump leading Harris in the Lone Star State, 53%-46%, as the presidential race focuses on battlegrounds, such as Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Independent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/voting-machines-in-pennsylvania-county-decertified-due-to-2020-election-audit-effort\/\" title=\"Voting Machines In Pennsylvania County Decertified Due To 2020 Election Audit Effort\">voters break<\/a> for Allred, 47% to 42%, while these same voters break for Trump, 49% to 47%,&rdquo; Emerson College Polling Executive Director Spencer Kimball said in a statement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Both Trump and Harris will travel to Texas on Friday for different campaign stops. The former president will sit down with Joe Rogan to record an episode of his popular podcast, while Harris will be rallying with Allred on abortion in Houston.<\/p>\n<p>While the Cruz-Allred contest is expected to be the tightest race for a Republican-held Senate seat this year, the closest races are expected to be for seats held by Democrats.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas&rsquo;s Senate race has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookpolitical.com\/ratings\/senate-race-ratings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"rated\">rated<\/a> as &ldquo;lean Republican&rdquo; by the <em>Cook Political Report<\/em>, the worst rating for the GOP of any of its seats, tied with Sen. Deb Fischer&rsquo;s (R-NE) closer-than-expected race in Nebraska.<\/p>\n<p>For Democratic-held seats, West Virginia&rsquo;s seat, held by outgoing Democrat-caucusing Sen. Joe Manchin (I-WV), is rated as &ldquo;solid Republican,&rdquo; and Sen.
