The first \u200cinvolves her\u2064 2009 book *Smart on\u2064 Crime*, where critics\u200c allege\u2063 that she included passages that resemble\u200b material from Wikipedia without proper attribution. \u200bThis allegation was highlighted by \u200dconservative activist Christopher Rufo, leading to widespread scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, additional accusations emerged concerning Harris&#8217;s Congressional\u200c testimony given during her\u2062 time as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/radical-cultural-change-coming-to-america\/\" title=\"Radical Cultural Change Coming to America?\">district attorney<\/a>. Furthermore, it was reported that she presented a fictional account\u200b of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/daring-rescue-depicted-in-sound-of-freedom-was-all-thanks-to-the-border-wall\/\" title=\"Border Wall Enables Daring Rescue in &#039;Sound of Freedom&#039;\">sex \u2062trafficking victim<\/a> as \u200cfactual, modifying only the location to San Francisco,\u200d which suggested \u200bher office&#8217;s involvement \u2064in a story that\u200b wasn&#8217;t based on real events.<\/p>\n<p>These\u2062 plagiarism claims,\u200d totaling seven instances\u200d according to some sources, have drawn \u2063comparisons to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">past \u2064scandals involving prominent politicians<\/a>, \u2063including Joe Biden and Melania Trump. She also allegedly copied a paragraph from Wikipedia in a 2012 report on human trafficking.<\/p>\n<p>In a third instance, the outlet reported that Harris passed off a fictionalized story about a sex trafficking victim as fact, only changing the location to San Francisco, where Harris was the district attorney at the time, effectively giving her office credit for helping the pretend person.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, the outlet highlighted seven instances of plagiarism, comparing them to similar scandals in the past, including the one that sunk President Joe Biden&rsquo;s 1987 White House bid and an instance where former first lady Melania Trump was accused of stealing material from former first lady Michelle Obama.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Examiner <\/em>has contacted the Harris and Trump campaigns seeking comment.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Harris was accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3188843\/vance-accuse-harris-plagiarism-2009-book\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"plagiarizing her 2009 book\">plagiarizing her 2009 book<\/a>, <em>Smart on Crime<\/em>, including portions that also resembled Wikipedia entries. <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">Sen.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jd-vance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">J.D. Vance<\/a>&nbsp;(R-OH), former Presi<\/span>dent Donald Trump&rsquo;s running mate, quickly highlighted the allegations&nbsp;that Harris plagiarized part of her book.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Hi, I&rsquo;m JD Vance. I wrote my own book, unlike Kamala Harris, who copied hers from Wikipedia,&rdquo; Vance&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JDVance\/status\/1845856378805731790\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">posted on X<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The Ohio senator is well known for his memoir,&nbsp;<em>Hillbilly Elegy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Harris&rsquo;s campaign dismissed the allegations as an attack against her support.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is a book that&rsquo;s been out for 15 years, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-defector-emails-pipeline-to-obama-admin-seen-as-currency\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden Defector Emails: &#039;Pipeline&#039; to Obama Admin Seen as &#039;Currency&#039;\">vice president<\/a> clearly cited sources and statistics in footnotes and endnotes throughout,&rdquo; Harris campaign spokesman James Singer&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/10\/14\/us\/christopher-rufo-kamala-harris-book.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<em>New York Times<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The book was written with the help of a ghostwriter, meaning Harris may not have been the guilty party even if the material was stolen. However, the new accusations may be harder to defend.<\/p>\n<p>The first round of accusations was unearthed by Christopher F. Rufo, who is well-known for a plagiarism investigation into former Harvard President Claudine Gay that eventually led to her resignation.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Kamala Harris has been plagiarizing her entire career,&rdquo; Rufo <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/realchrisrufo\/status\/1848729028167143791\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"said\">said<\/a> in response to the latest findings. <\/p>\n<p>The <em>Free Beacon <\/em>in August <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/elections\/i-did-fries-kamala-harris-claims-she-worked-at-mcdonalds-but-she-never-mentioned-it-until-she-ran-for-president-did-she-really-toil-beneath-the-golden-arches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"questioned\">questioned<\/a> Harris&rsquo;s claim that she worked in a McDonald&rsquo;s in the summer of 1983, reporting that she had never mentioned it until her 2019 run for president and that details of the claim had changed over time.
